Impact Wrestling announced the following today on Twitter:
Impact Wrestling announced today that it has terminated its business relationship with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment Inc., effective immediately.
— IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) October 23, 2017
The timing of this announcement is likely related to the issues surrounding Jarrett from this past weekend. Jarrett was scheduled to work on two shows with indy promotion Real Canadian Wrestling. But, according to sources familiar with the situation, he was detained at the airport when he arrived in the country. We don’t know why he was detained but, after a few hours, officials allowed him entry into the country on the condition that he had to leave by 8 am on Saturday morning. That meant that he could not work the second show on Saturday.
Sources that were at the show on Friday told us that Jarrett looked to be in “rough shape” and he was in no condition to perform. This also follows a similer incident in August when Jarrett got into multiple backstage altercations during the Triple A promotion’s TripleMania show where he was alleged to be intoxicated.
Authors Take: Given Jeff’s personal demons and the debarkle involving ownership of the Global Force Wrestling name resulting in the promotion reverting back to Impact Wrestling branding, this outcome was clearly inevitable .
