The Court Of Royal Opinion: Clash Of Champions Predictions

Welcome to all our Royal subjects to The Court Of Royal Opinion. Here in court, we, the writers of Wrestle Royalty drink copious amounts of Ale and Ingest multiple servings of Hasenpfeffer while we argue and debate who we believe will be booked to go over in each WWE PPV/Network special.

Please feel free to give your own predictions below in the comment section, but I wouldn’t advise doing it like we do! Beer and Sour Rabbit Stew comes back to haunt you trust me.

Mojo Rawley vs. Zack Ryder

Queen KB

This is simple; Mojo is going to destroy Ryder. There’s no way this can go other than Mojo destroying Ryder. Ryder is a jobber, has always been a jobber, always should be a jobber. There’s no miraculous Mahal Championship in his future; there are just more losses to make the better wrestlers look even better. The WWE has dropped so many great superstars (Sandow) while keeping the likes of Ryder. I just don’t get it. But Mojo has been in a holding pattern since WrestleMania, and it’s more then the time he gets the push he’s worked so hard for, and see if he’s the solid superstar he’s been groomed to be.

-Mojo

Botch Reed

I should care about this. Sadly, they have put ZERO work into this “feud.” Mojo just turned (like we all knew he would) and they’ve done nothing with the feud to make us care. As a result, I don’t. Mojo is likely on the come-up, and they’ve proven that they won’t do a thing with Ryder, so I think Mojo will take this.

WEENAH: Mojo

Dre

I feel this would work better if Ryder were the one who had turned heel because lord knows he needs a character shake up more then anyone on the roster right now. Having said that I’m gonna go with Ryder in this one. I get the feeling that this feud will go beyond this Sunday

Breezango vs. The Bludgeon Brothers

Queen KB

Why are Breeze and Fandango getting into this mess? They have no need to fight this fight, and they will be destroyed in the process. I do wonder if The Ascension will get involved in some way, but even if they do, Breezango is in for a beating.

-Bludgeon Bros

Botch Reed

I dearly love Breezango, but there’s no chance here. This hasn’t really been built either, so it’s hard to care too much. The Bludgeon Brothers were recently repackaged (kinda) so they’ll take this.

WEENAH: Bludgeon Brothers (silly name, btw)

Dre

For a mid-card feud, this has had one hell of a long build. I’ve enjoyed most of the fashion files segments. Obviously, the Bludgeon Brothers will go over here, but I think the real twist in this one will be that it was actually The Ascension (who Breezango originally thought were their mysterious attackers before allying) who were Breezangos’ tormentors.

Triple Threat Match For The U.S. Championship: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler

Queen KB

I know a lot of people think that Corbin has made great strides with the strap, I’m not one of those people. I will say he’s doing better, but there’s someone in this match who really has worked for and deserves a solid push. I’m a huge fan of Roode, and I know I’m biased, but he has more than proven that it’s time to strap him on the main roster. And I’m not even touching Ziggler, especially knowing all the hands that have touched him already.

-Roode

Botch Reed

Dolph just kinda got thrown into this, so I’m thinking he’s gonna do the job because, sadly, that’s what he does. Bobby’ll get a shot but I don’t think it’ll be here.

WEENAH: Baron Corbin

Dre

I’ll admit that I haven’t been heavily invested into either of the three competitors here. Corbin’s US title run as being a bit lackluster but I don’t think Creative is gonna pull the trigger on a title switch just yet. I fully expect Corbin to retain by pinning Ziggler. After that, I think we get the one on one match between Roode and Corbin where the Glorious One wins the strap.

Fatal 4-Way Match For  The Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The Usos vs. The New Day vs. Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable vs. Rusev & Aiden English

Queen KB

I’m actually enjoying the Usos much more since they turned face, but does that mean they’re going to retain? If they’re going to be part of a solid Tag Division, then maybe someone else should win the Tag Team Championship. With the push we’ve seen Rusev and English on, why not? So, maybe I’m going out on a limb with this one, but I want to see what Rusev and English can do together as Champions.

-Rusev & English

Botch Reed

It’s so cool to see Aiden English getting a shot. He’s the perfect foil for Rusev and the whole “Rusev Day” thing has really taken off. Rusev, too, has become a lot more fun this way. I’m a fan of Shelton Benjamin from way back, and Chad is an incredible performer as he showed us when he took on AJ Styles some time back. ‘Course, we already know what The Usos and New Day bring. We’re definitely gonna get a well-worked match here, but I don’t think this is the match to switch titles on.

WEENAH: The Usos

Dre

This may be the match I’m most looking forward to just from a pure wrestling standpoint. I think this is going to be absolutely fantastic.
The Usos and The New Day have rejuvenated the tag division with their epic battles (and rap battle) and when you add the likes of Benjamin/Gable and Rusev and Aiden who have come into their own as a pair you have one hell of a tag match. I like all 4 of these teams and wouldn’t be upset by any outcome here, but I’d love to see Rusev and Aiden go over here, so I’m picking them. Right now they’re the perfect comedy pairing, and fans are really digging them as a team the way fans were digging Booker T & Goldust way back when.
On a side note, this match along with the other two tag matches is a real testament to how deep and exciting Smackdown’s tag division has suddenly become.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Natalya (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Queen KB

I didn’t realize going into this PPV how obvious a lot of these matches are, which means that there’s no way they’re all going to work out in the most obvious way, but I’ll be shocked if this one ends up in anything but a DQ. Being a Lumber Jill Match, especially with the newest members of the roster being involved. No matter how hard Nattie fights, she won’t be winning back the SD Women’s Champion this weekend.

-Charlotte

Botch Reed

In another out-of-nowhere twist, this is now a Lumber-Jill Match. This means that the Riott Squad will likely be involved to make this a bit screwy. Natalya had a nice run as the champ, and I doubt she’ll get it back here. She’s not what Smackdown’s focus is right now. The landscape is different, and this will just blow off the feud.

WEENAH: Charlotte Flair

Dre

This one is going to feature all types of chaos. Between all the lumberjills that’ll be surrounding the ring and the Riot Squad, I expect a ton of shenanigans in this one. I pick Charlotte to retain against Natalya, but I think we finally get the long-awaited first female cash in. When the smoke clears look for Carmella to be the one standing tall with the belt.

Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

Queen KB

This should be the match of the night, not just because of Sami, KO, Nakamura, and even Orton, are amazing in the ring, but because of the two Special Guest Referees. Shane and Bryan are what will make this match into jaw-dropping entertainment. Some want Shane to turn heel; others want Bryan. I, personally, am on Team Bryan, because I know that, even though he’s so over with the fans, he can get them to turn on him like few others. Bryan is one in a billion, and he will take this to a whole new level, possibly with a small bump here and there. So, obviously, KO and Sami will win this match in a dramatic and messy way.

-Sami, KO, Bryan, and the fans!

Botch Reed

This is the one I care most about because of how it’s been built. This is likely just fodder for a Daniel Bryan/Shane McMahon feud. Kevin and Sami could conceivably lose and be gone for a short time, only to return in some way. Because this would create multiple problems for Shane and different directions for writing purposes, I think it’d be fun if it went this way.

WEENAH: Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura

Dre

This beef between Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon had led many to speculate that Bryan may be turning heel to align with Sami & KO. After this week’s episode of Smackdown, I’m all but certain that Bryan will NOT turn heel. He counted Nakamura down this past Tuesday slightly teasing a potential turn which means it won’t happen.
Shane, on the other hand, is more likely to turn but even as intriguing as Shane beings heel authority figure maybe I still can’t think of a valid kayfabe reason for why he’d align with Owens and Sami. Regardless of who turns or if there’s a turn or not KO and Sami will sneak out a win here.
This tag match should be a lot of fun.
Oh, and I did mention that Randy Orton and Nakamura are in this match as well?

WWE World Championship Match: AJ Styles (c) vs. Jinder Mahal

Queen KB

This is another easy, peasy match. There’s no reason Mahal should be Champion, and he proved that with his jobber run as Champion. It’s over, the whole debacle was an epic failure, and it’s time to move on. Further, it’s time for the Singh Bros to turn on Mahal and step away on their own. The whole thing has been a raging cluster, and since we are heading toward Royal Rumble and then WrestleMania, there’s no reason to pull the strap off AJ. This looks so clear on paper with AJ keeping the strap after the Singh Bros finally turn on Mahal and get their own chance, but this is the WWE, and we know how #WWELogic works!

-AJ

Botch Reed

This is another likely blow-off. The “Jinder Experiment of 2017” has completely and utterly failed, not because I don’t like him but because his “reign” didn’t do anything it was supposed to do. Ratings and ticket sales in India didn’t improve, and neither did Jinder. I can’t imagine what the upside to him winning would be here, but I can see the upside in the Singh Brothers finally ditching Jinder. Jinder has certainly given them ample reason to do so. As a result…

WEENAH: AJ Styles

Dre

This rematch seems more of a tying up loose ends/stalling for time type of deal more than anything else. Jinder wasn’t able to get over in India the way WWE was hoping for, so it appears the Jinder Experiment is coming to an end. Where he goes from here is anyone’s guess, but a victory over the face that runs the place seems very unlikely. AJ will win here then move onto something different by the Rumble I suspect
