At the end of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s latest iPPV, The New Beginning in Sapporo, the long-teased fracture of the Bullet Club stable finally happened!
For those who aren’t up to date with New Japan’s storylines, here is some backstory for you.
Before Kenny Omega was even a member of New Japan’s roster let alone the Bullet Club, he worked for the Japenese Indy promotion Dramatic-Dream Team (DDT) as part of a Tag Team with Kota Ibushi called The Golden Lovers. Years later, after taking part WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament, Ibushi returned home and signed a deal with New Japan.
For months now, the storyline tension between Cody and Omega has been rising and hit breaking point the night after Wrestle Kingdom 12 where Cody was feuding with Ibushi and tried to attack him with a chair. This caused Omega to rush the ring, break it up and save his former Tag Team partner much to the dismay of Cody and the other members of Bullet Club.
After working social media the last few weeks assuring fans that everything was ok and everyone had kissed and made up…the s**t hit the fan after Omega shockingly lost the IWGP U.S. Title to Jay White!
After the three count, fellow Bullet Club member Hangman Paige came out to make the challenge to the new Champion (as is custom in New Japan) and as you can see in the video below, it set up a chain of events that may result in new leadership in the super popular stable:

Sir Mitch Says: Although we all knew this was coming, the timing is certainly surprising!
Bullet Club pretty much print money and are the biggest attraction internationally not just for New Japan but for Ring Of Honor as well. And with New Japan’s second US tour coming up along with ROH’s Wrestlemania weekend show in New Orleans and the All In show Bullet Club is producing on their own for September 1st, this feels like it may be the wrong time to pull the trigger on this storyline!
