You’re Johnny Loser

Hey, kids!  It’s the Botching One with another chance to bask in the “Illustrious Future” that is NXT.  Let’s get into this, shall we?

In-ring segment – The Undisputed Era & SAniTY

Well, this show got going in a hurry!  SAniTY attacked before the match (that we didn’t get until later) even started and “security” had to get into the ring to separate them.  I liked it!  It also set up the 6-man Tornado Tag Team match meant for later tonight.  Nice piece of storytelling!  I also love seeing William Regal in all his bluster.  He’s so good at it.

Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight) vs. Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

Okay, so WWE appears to be restarting on both of these teams and they’re putting them in a feud together.  Neither team has been treated well as both were showing up regularly only to be stopped cold on.  Moss & Sabbatelli find themselves in the same position as they had been feuding with Street Profits only for it to stop cold.  As for the match, I enjoyed it.  Both teams can go but Heavy Machinery adds an element of fun to it.  Dozovic’s worm is an absolute riot.  Overall, a decent match for sure.  We’ll see what happens with Heavy Machinery going forward.  Equally interesting is what happened at the end.  Is the team of Moss and Sabbatelli done?  Time will tell.

In-ring segment – Johnny Gargano, Candice LaRae, Zelina Vega, and Andrade Cien Almas

Decent promo for sure.  Given Ciampa’s attack on Gargano at the end of the match, I imagined the feud between Almas and Gargano was over.  That appears not to be the case.  Zelina, as I’ve said repeatedly, is the only thing that justifies ACA’s existence at the top of the card in NXT.  Seeing Candice come out and have her fun was cool too.  I dearly love the twist in the next ACA vs. Gargano match.

Backstage Segment – Shayna Bazsler

She’s getting there!  Her promos get a little bit better each time and this was almost there.  It still felt scripted but not as much so.  She’s on her way.

Bianca Belair vs. Jessics Hill

The initial contact between them was really cool, actually.  Jessics reached out her hand to Bianca and Bianca shook it.  When Bianca wouldn’t let her squeeze go, the subtlety on Jessics face was masterful.  It was a little thing but I really liked it.  Sadly, the rest of the match was the quickie jobber thing you’d expect.  Why, though, didn’t she use her hair whip?  She’s done it in every other match.  Odd to not do it here.

SAniTY (Eric Young, Killian Dane, & Alexander Wolfe) vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, & Kyle O’Reilly)

This match was going to be nuts and it was…in every sense.  They used every inch of the venue that they could.  Fish did a really pretty moonsault on Killian Dane fairly early in the match.  The height he reached…WOW!  These guys worked hard throughout.  The NXT Universe on hand absolutely loved it and I really enjoyed it too.  Killian Dane was, to me, the most impressive.  He’s such a big guy but he seemingly doesn’t run low on energy.  He started on 10 and stayed there throughout.

Of course, throughout much of the match, Mauro just wouldn’t quit screaming and it made this difficult to watch.  Once I turned down the sound, things got better.  I sadly have to do that a lot.

Good show throughout.  This show finds the perfect balance of in-ring action and storyline.  It’s a real shame “205 Live” doesn’t have the workers, by and large, that can do that.  The men and women here absolutely can and do – week after week.  This was yet another “can’t miss” show.  Join me again next week for another chance to view the “Illustrious Future”!
