Adrienne Lawrence, former anchor for ESPN, has filed suit against ESPN. Her lawsuit involves mainly John Buccigross but Jonathan Coachman – current commentator for “Monday Night Raw” – also stands accused of various occurrences of harassment against her.
She’s alleging that Coachman reached out to her to offer friendship but he tried to turn that into something more personal. She was apparently advised against allowing that to happen – saying that her colleagues accused Coachman of sexually harassing other female employees.
She further alleges that ESPN frequently ignored Lawrence’s complaints.
“We conducted a thorough investigation of the claims Adrienne Lawrence surfaced to ESPN and they are entirely without merit,” ESPN said in a statement. “Ms. Lawrence was hired into a two-year talent development program and was told that her contract would not be renewed at the conclusion of the training program. At that same time, ESPN also told 100 other talent with substantially more experience, that their contracts would not be renewed. The company will vigorously defend its position and we are confident we will prevail in court.”
Botch Take: What a total and complete mess. #TimesUp has hit WWE. If any of this is true, Ms. Lawrence deserves closure for whatever’s happened to her. Further, Coachman’s stay at the commentator table will be frighteningly short. WWE doesn’t suffer these kinds of controversies well so we’ll know soon enough.
