Paige Officially Retires

Paige’s career accomplishments are nothing to shy away from as they are definitely Hall of Fame-worthy. Paige debuted on WWE programming in June 2012 on the 3rd episode on the new NXT. Paige would go on a rampage through NXT, creating a massive name for herself. Then, finally, on July 24th, 2013, Paige accomplished her goal of becoming the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion. She would go on to hold the Championship until her call-up, and debut, on the main roster of Raw on April 7th, 2014, the day following Wrestlemania XXX.

On her very first appearance on a Raw, Paige would go on to face AJ Lee for the Diva’s Championship, in which she would be successful and become the youngest woman champion in history at the age of 21 years old. Due to winning the Diva’s Championship, Paige was forced to vacate the NXT Women’s Championship. Her NXT streak ended after holding the Championship an impressive 274 days. Paige would hold the Diva’s Championship until June 30th, 2014, where a returning AJ Lee would recapture it.

At Summerslam of 2014, on her 22nd birthday, Paige would win back the Diva’s Championship from AJ Lee and hold it until Night of Champions a month later, losing it to AJ Lee once again. Unfortunately, Paige would not win any further Championships during her career in the ring. She would still go on to dazzle and amaze with her in ring capabilities, putting up phenomenal matches.

In January 2016, Paige would return for a short 6 month run in WWE again, until going on hiatus. Paige would stay out of WWE due to surgery until November 20th, 2017, alongside debuting Rose & Deville. Her in ring return would happen on December 4th, 2017, where she would face Sasha Banks.

Paige would go on to feud Sasha Banks, Bayley, & Mickie James. Then on December 28th, 2017 in Long Island, NY at the Nassau Coliseum, the unthinkable happened. Paige was injured when Sasha Banks was performing a standard kick to the back. The mis-timed kick resulted in the same injury that forced Edge into retirement, and nearly ended Daniel Bryan’s career. Enclosed below is footage of when the injury happened.

Warning: Some may find the footage disturbing:

Paige was officially informed that she would no longer be able to perform in ring less than 2 weeks following the injury. However, she was seeking out further assistance similar to Daniel Bryan.  She even worked with him to try to overcome her injuries.  Even those doctors and medical professionals she sought gave her the grim news that she couldn’t take another bump or she might be paralyzed for life.

After getting clarification, she quickly rose to become the leader of the stable Absolution consisting of Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, and herself. While the leader of the stable, they failed to pick up any titles, however, were participants in the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble and the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber. Then tonight, on the April 9th, 2018 episode of Raw, Paige officially announced her retirement.

During the speech, she would go on to thank the fans, her family, and the women in the back for the Women’s Revolution. While this is the end for Paige in WWE, we are sure she will find success in another avenue of her life. Who knows?  Maybe we will see Paige back in another authoritative role.

No matter what happens, every WWE ring will forever be Paige’s House.
