For weeks, Chris Jericho has been saying publicly that he was done with New Japan Pro Wrestling. However, as is usual with Jericho, he is not going to spoil a surprise, and he tries his best to kayfabe fans so you can never be sure if he is being honest or working when he makes statements about his wrestling future.
Several sources are now reporting that Jericho is expected to appear at this week’s Wrestling Dontaku events in Fukuoka, Japan. He will be there for an angle that will lead to his return to the ring at NJPW’s Dominion show in Osaka next month. The last time fans saw Jericho, he got into a heated angle with Tetsuya Naito so he would likely be the next opponent.
When asked about his future with NJPW in the past, he had hinted that there was a money issue. Obviously, that is not the case as NJPW’s profits have never been higher and their main event workers like Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega are making over seven-figure sums each year. It’s worth noting that NJPW will be returning to the United States in July at the Cow Palace in San Francisco so there is a good chance that he will be booked for that show as well.
Sir Mitch: After the colossal success Chris Jericho’s program with Kenny Omega was, did anyone really think he was “one and done” with New Japan?
