Smackdown Live Announcers Told Not To Reference NXT During SAnitY Debut

On this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, SAnitY made their long-awaited debut on the main roster. After weeks of video packages hyping up their debut, they debuted by attacking The Usos prior to their match and took them out with rather ease. What might have been overlooked is that the Smackdown Live announce team would not mention their run in NXT. This was not done by accident, rather by design. According to Fightful, Smackdown Live announcers Tom Phillips, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton were instructed not to reference the team’s NXT past when setting up the debut.

S.A.M.’s Spiel: WWE really does not want to mention their great run in NXT? With all their previous NXT call-ups they have but for SAnitY they don’t. I guess if they did, they would have to edit out Nikki Cross since she was not with them for their debut, something I am deeply disappointed in. I must say I don’t like this decision initially because they are former NXT Tag Team Champions and that is something to highlight, not delete from their history. Maybe this will be a new strategy for call-ups in the future but time will tell.
