WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley took to Twitter earlier in the day on Monday to express his feelings over the whole Cormier/Lesnar story. He had this to say regarding it:
A complete work.
Reminded me of the scene in Rocky III when Clubber calls out Rocky in front of the whole city.
UFC needs Brock…they and their fans are just scared to admit it.

The way the whole thing went down did seem a bit staged for UFC. We cannot obviously confirm 100% if it was staged or not, as UFC and those involved will stay extremely tight lipped about it if it was.
Bubba was not the only one extremely critical of these allegations as #2 ranked UFC Heavyweight fighter Curtis Blaydes also took to Twitter to express his concerns:
Tired of all the politics 🤦🏾♂️ like is it even still even about fighting first CM Punk now @BrockLesnar I’ll just continue to grow as a martial artist and become more dangerous and I refuse to resort to that WWE bs fake arguing just to draw in lame ass casual fans pfft

Others also had comments to add from the UFC and MMA side of things:

That was the lamest fake confrontation ever..

What a farce. Diminished the moment significantly. #UFC226

Fans of both WWE and UFC are jumping in on this and agreeing that this both tarnished the moment of Cormier becoming a double champion and watering down the UFC to WWE standards.
