Wrestle Royalty Predicts…Extreme Rules 2018!

Welcome all our Royal subjects to The Court Of Royal Opinion. Here in court, we, the writers of Wrestle Royalty, drink copious amounts of Ale and ingest multiple servings of Hasenpfeffer while we argue and debate who we believe will be booked to go over in each WWE PPV/Network special.

Please feel free to give your own predictions below but I wouldn’t advise doing it like we do! Beer and Sour Rabbit Stew comes back to haunt you – trust me.

Today we have Queen KB, Baron Botch, Mistress Marie and Sovereign Sam giving full predictions while myself, Duke Dre and our newest writer Zoey are doing quick picks.

Queen KB: First off, I need to state that my predicts were written before the go-home Raw or SD aired. Therefore I’m going with the info I have at this point. I hope to get a chance to read the results of both shows before this goes out, and I can fix anything that might need fixing, but I cannot guarantee it as I’ll be medieval until a couple of hours before Extreme Rules. As I did last time, during MITB, I will share a pic of me in my medieval garb in the Extreme Rules Dignified Discussion, so don’t miss it!

The New Day vs. SANITY

Queen KB

Queen Predicted Winner – The New Day

Baron Botch

Who’d a thought we’d be seeing New Day on a Kickoff show?  I’m glad Sanity is finally getting some direction – even if it’s just on the kick-off.  New Day has nothing to lose by winning and Sanity needs a push.  So…

THE WINNAH – SANITY

Sovereign Sam

This match was just announced so this will be a pure gut feeling type of pick. The New Day can afford a loss, and SAnitY needs this more to be a legitimate threat.

The Winners: SAnitY

Duke Dre

Winner: Sanity (clean)

Mistress Marie

Ok, a tables match… So if one goes through the entire match is over. Maybe I’m just overthinking things but wouldn’t this be better as an elimination match? It certainly would be more fun. I also love the contrast between the two teams. New Day, who are peppy and fun, Sanity, who are dark and hurt people, the feud writes itself! And while I would love for this to be the catalyst to a New Day breakup, I see this going on a bit longer. Given it is Sanity’s PPV debut, they get the slight edge here.

Steel Cage Match: Kevin Owens vs. Braun Strowman

Queen KB

Queen Predicted Winner – Braun Strowman

Baron Botch
As much fun as this has been, I have no clue why this is a thing.  Like…I don’t know why Braun is coming for Kevin.  No clue at all.  As for who will win, I’m not sure it matters.  Just given the size of the participants, I’ve got to go with the obvious…

THE WINNAH – BRAUN STROWMAN

Sovereign Sam

This has been one the most fun programs in recent memory. Kevin Owens has taken constant punishment from Strowman at every turn, and I have loved it. Strowman continues to get more over with the crowd and KO has been the perfect foil for him. This should be a fun cage match because both men have shown how versatile they are in the ring. Money in The Bank winners have a history of losing a ton before a cash-in to build suspense, but Braun feels like he may be an exception to that.

The Winner: Braun Strowman

Duke Dre

Winner: Strowman (clean)

Mistress Marie

Now, THIS will be fun! Braun has really surprised me since his days as the biggest guy in the Wyatt Family. He was green as grass, and I actually begged for him to be sent back to NXT because he just didn’t seem to have it together. But after the last year and a half? Braun has more than come into his own and become arguably the best “Big Man” on the roster today, heck, maybe the best since The Undertaker. But let’s not discount KO either! The man is oozing with charisma and has the work rate to back it up!  Both he and Braun have more than put the effort in here to get this angle over!  What better way to end it than in a cage? KO will try to weasel his way over the top and our the door, and Braun will toy with KO like a cat with a mouse. Of course, The Monster has to go over here and keep his momentum, as he needs to cash in that case at SummerSlam.

Finn Bálor vs. “Constable” Baron Corbin

Queen KB

Finn needs to win this match, or he has nowhere to go. How the mighty have fallen, and cannot seem to get up! I feel horrible for Balor these days because he just cannot get out of this rut. Honestly, I have to wonder if moving him to 205 Live, especially if there are any legs to Rey Rey possibly returning to the WWE at some point, ever. The two of them on 205 Live could take the show to a whole new level. So, even though he was the first Universal Champion, he’s been relegated to nothing more than mid-card purgatory and truly needs this win to go anywhere in the WWE.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – Finn Balor

Baron Botch
They hadn’t really been building this much until “Its Bitsy Bálor” – the funniest thing I’ve seen on “Raw” in recent memory.  Finn is trapped under a glass ceiling and they have bigger plans for Baron so…

THE WINNAH – BARON CORBIN

Sovereign Sam

This is a rivalry that feels like it came from out of nowhere. Seems like Balor will never get another push because Vince just doesn’t see the money in him. Meanwhile, Corbin has found new life in his Constable role. I think they will push this rivalry a bit further and do some 50/50 booking.

The Winner: Finn Balor

Duke Dre

Winner: Corbin (dirty)

Mistress Marie

Ok, why does this need a PPV blow off? This feels more like a match to be booked on Raw. But I digress. Balor has taken a huge fall in his stock since he was Universal champ, and it doesn’t seem like he can get good booking to save his life. And Corbin, while he is getting better by the week, was a classic case of being booked too hot, too soon. He burned out, and now Vince has to rebuild him with the Constable schtick. It is working, along with the haircut! But honestly, other than a few promos, why should we care about this? It has no meaning to the greater storylines and no purpose other than to fill time.

U.S. Title Match: Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Queen KB

There is no question about the way I hope this match goes, and that’s with Nakamura winning the US Championship. I know how much people love Jeff Hardy, and he’s back to his Willow-esque which many people love, but I just haven’t felt it myself. Jeff’s ring work has looked rather rough lately, and he’s so obviously dealing with a slew of injuries, to the point that I thought that he was going to drop the strap on SD to Miz. Further, Nakamura never won the WWE WHC from AJ, so it only makes sense that he beat s Jeff Hardy for the US Championship at Extreme Rules.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – Shinsuke Nakamura

Baron Botch

They’ll make a show of this but I’m not terribly interested.  Unless WWE really decides to swerve us (they have a history of doing it for sure), I think the outcome is a foregone conclusion, honestly.  Jeff would never be hurt by a loss at this point and it’s time to give Shinsuke a title.

THE WINNAH AND NEWWWWWWWW! – Shinsuke Nakamura

Sovereign Sam

It is a shame that Nakamura suffered that police dog bite because that has taken away from the build. It is also no secret that Jeff has been dealing with an injury. Nakamura has come into his own as a heel and it looks like he is relishing in each moment as a heel. Jeff can certainly afford a loss while Nakamura may need this one more. The Winner and NEW United States Champion: Shinsuke Nakamura!

Duke Dre

Winner: Nakamura (clean)

Mistress Marie

Hardy as US Champ has been incredibly underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a talented guy and I like that he is using the face paint to draw out more of the Charismatic Enigma persona of him. But overall, he has been fairly forgettable as champ. I mean, I didn’t even miss him at MITB. Nakamura, however, has been on fire ever since he turned heel! Something about the edge he gained has given this girl goosebumps. And it is more than time to reward the man that has given us a ton of classic matches the past couple of years.

30 Minute Iron Match Match for the Intercontinental Title: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Seth Rollins

Queen KB

I have to say I’m kind of excited about this match, though I really wish we could see some real Iron Man matches, the way they should be, an hour long. These are two guys who could absolutely go an hour, and should, even could, if not for the short-attention span fans. Yes, this is something that bothers me, greatly. I get kids not wanting to sit through an hour match, but some of the best and most exciting matches I’ve ever seen were Iron Man matches, but I guess too many fans, and McMahon, don’t agree with me on this. Either way, this match could steal the show, because these two are really great in the ring. Some people thing Ziggler over-sells, but I’m a huge fan of HBK and his way of working the ring, which is exactly how Ziggler sells. All that being said, I’m hoping McIntyre is tossed from ringside to make this an actual one on one match, but I don’t think that will happen until after he costs Rollins at least one fall. With McIntyre being tossed out of ringside, I see Rollins somehow pull this one out. I know Ziggler needs to win to move forward, but I think if anyone should beat Rollins in an Iron Man Match for the IC Championship, it should be McIntyre at SummerSlam.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – Rollins

Baron Botch
This’ll be fun!  Dolph and Seth will likely create the Match of the Night.  Both could do it with ease and, as this is an Iron Man match, they’ll have plenty of time to tell a great story.  I’m looking forward to this one.  Apparently, it’s time to send Seth back to the main event picture so…

THE WINNAH – DOLPH ZIGGLER

Sovereign Sam

I never thought I would be looking forward to a Dolph match but then WWE decided to put him against arguably the hardest working man in WWE right now in Seth Rollins. Seth has been on a tear and is constantly putting on the best matches on Raw and on PPV. This being an Iron Man Match does add in some different thinking because that can be unpredictable. I have no doubt that this will end up being the match of the night and could be one of the best main roster PPV matches of the year. I don’t know how many falls will happen but this will be a can’t miss match.

The Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Dolph Ziggler

Duke Dre

Winner: Dolph Ziggler (dirty, Ambrose returns and turns heel on Seth)

Mistress Marie

Wow, an Ironman match! It’s been a good bit of time since we had one that had the promise of exciting me. Mind you, I’m a sucker for these kinds of matches because it can bring loads more excitement to each false finish and a sense of mystery and wonder on who will win that a lot of matches don’t have anymore… (Stares at Roman.) And on top of that, we have two men in this match that are arguably always at their best in that ring. So this should be a barn burner! The big thing here is… who to put over? Rollins has been on fire lately, and has done wonders for the IC Title, but Ziggler has been surging in his role with Drew McIntyre. And Drew is what will prove to be the X Factor here, as he will undoubtedly affect at least one fall.

Smackdown Women’s Title Match (James Ellsworth will be suspended in a shark cage above the ring): Carmella (c) vs. Asuka

Queen KB

Quick answer for this, Ellsworth will try to help Carmella, but in the end, will cost her the SD Women’s Championship. That leaves Asuka walking away with the strap, Carmella not talking to Ellsworth, and Ellsworth starting his run as this generation’s Andy Kaufman.

Queen’s Predicted Winner & new SD Women’s Champion – Asuka

Baron Botch
It is beyond time for Asuka to win the belt.  Like…beyond time.  I like Carmella and always have.  She does a mean cowardly, arrogant heel.  Heck, I even like that Ellsworth is by her side again.  It’s time for Asuka now.

THE WINNAH AND NEWWWWWWW! – ASUKA

Sovereign Sam

Carmella’s reign as champion has been hit and miss for me. When she is on her game, she is a top heel but when she is off it, it makes me wonder why is she champion. Hopefully bringing back Ellsworth can make her more consistent and not so hit and miss for me. Asuka has been just floating around since her loss to Charlotte at Wrestlemania and her loss to Carmella at Backlash due to the returning Ellsworth. Now that Ellsworth will be in a shark cage, this adds a new wrinkle to this match so it makes it much more interesting. I do think Asuka will become Women’s Champion sooner than later but WWE love to drag things out and this will probably be dragged out until Summerslam.

The Winner and STILL Smackdown Live Women’s Champion: Carmella

Duke Dre

Winner: Carmella retains (dirty off of Ellsworth distraction)

Mistress Marie

Ok, I will probably get shot for this, but one of my favorite moments from seeing MITB live was the return of James Ellsworth. The crowd knew it was coming, and it was fun as hell to chant and give him a welcome back. But why do we need that damn Shark Cage coming back again?! It is arguably one of the dumbest gimmicks WWE has done in years, set up just to sell more toys, and now it won’t freaking die! I can hope that the match will actually be worth something, but after seeing Carmella and Asuka work live, I’m not holding high hopes here. Asuka is great, but Mella, while much better than I expected, still has a lot to learn. As for the ending, I’m betting on Ellsworth dropping a foreign object from the cage, like the pepper spray we saw on SD, and Carmella picking up a dirty win.

Extreme Rules Match for the Raw Women’s Title: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Nia Jax

Queen KB

While I love both Bliss and Jax, I’m a bit over this feud. I love how Jax talked about their never-ending feud on the 7/2 episode of Raw, but it doesn’t help that we are getting the same thing, again. Honestly, with Ronda in the front row, Nattie ringside with Jax, and Mickie ringside with Bliss, I don’t see this one coming to a clean ending. Someone, probably Ronda, will cost the match a clean ending after Nattie and Mickie are either tossed out, or down for the count outside the ring for fighting.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – No Contest / DQ

Baron Botch
This one doesn’t have as much riding on it as the last one did.  They told an absolutely beautiful story that led up to the last one.  Now, Nia has flip-flopped between heel and face.  She appears to be face again.  I’m kinda not really into this.  Ronda being at ringside will be interesting.THE WINNAH – NIA JAX VIA DQ

Sovereign Sam

So, this will be an extreme rules match with Ronda Rousey at ringside. Honestly, could WWE have given us a more predictable outcome of Rousey getting involved in an extreme rules match. This just has all the feel of a stop-gap for Summerslam when Rousey will most likely challenge Bliss for the title. I feel bad for Nia because her title reign was so lackluster and she deserved better than that.

The Winner and STILL Raw Women’s Champion: Alexa Bliss

Duke Dre

Winner: Alexa retains (clean)

Mistress Marie

You know, I was honestly happy when this feud died out after WrestleMania. Nia and Alexa have a decent chemistry on the mic, but very little when in the ring with each other, their contrast of styles and match pacing clearly showing. So us getting yet another, albeit under Extreme Rules, is just boring to me. Sure, I know there will be some fun spots, and Rousey will get involved, but all this is going to do is have the way for an Alexa/Ronda match at SummerSlam, where Ronda will get her title and become the female Lesnar.

Raw Tag Team Title Match: Deleters of Worlds (“Woken” Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt) vs. The B Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas)

Queen KB

Blows my mind that both Tag Team Championship Matches are fun and exciting. The Tag Divisions are cyclical in the WWE, and just when I thought McMahon lost interest in the division again, he shocks me by making two great feuds for the double straps. To be honest, we all know Bo and Bray are brothers, and that Axel can be one of the funniest guys on the roster, but this feud came out of nowhere and showed us so much fun that I’m still in shock at all the greatness they’ve been giving us each week. Bo looks and sounds so much more like his brother than I originally thought, and that has made this feud that much more fun.

Also, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been hoping to see Bo and Bray work together in some capacity, and this has been so much fun! The question we are left with is, will the younger brother and his silly friend be able to pull out a clean win here, the way they have been on Raw over the past couple weeks? I think the answer should be a resounding yes, otherwise, their momentum will crash and burn faster than the rolling ball started. Because of all this, I see The B Team winning the Raw Tag Team Championship here.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – The B Team

Baron Botch
This is the match I’m most looking forward to.  The build to this has been absolutely stellar and I’m so happy that Curtis and Bo weren’t just forgotten about when Miz left for Smackdown.  They’ve flourished without him and they are more fun than should be legal.  A loss wouldn’t hurt either Matt or Bray but the win would elevate the B-Team for sure.

THE WINNAH AND NEWWWWWWW! – THE B-TEAM

Sovereign Sam

Vince just doesn’t get the Woken Universe and what made it special. Bray and Matt as a team should be better as a team but they just haven’t clicked for some reason that we know is Vince not understanding how to make this great. The B-Team on the other hand have been a delightful surprise and this has certainly revitalized the careers of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. This is actually close for me to call but I will say that if this doesn’t end up leading to something being done at the Hardy Compound, WWE will be missing a huge opportunity.

The Winners and NEW Raw Tag Team Champions: The B-Team!

Duke Dre

Winner: Woken Hardy & Bray Wyatt (clean)

Mistress Marie

Ok, if WWE had given us this Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas from the very start, I could have seen them going a lot further than they have by this point! The B Team has been fun, goofy, and downright entertaining. And it proves you don’t have to have a serious gimmick to get the fans behind you, as the crowds are eating them up. Matt and Bray, on the other hand… They seem very lost in the shuffle. The Woken gimmick, as much as I love it, has paled in comparison to Broken. And while I would love to see them #Shatter some more and get the chance to evolve into what it should have been from the very start, it is clear that MeekMahan will not allow them to blossom into the rose of reincarnation to be carried on the winds of change. This, coupled with the recent…indiscretions by Bray, the Seven Deities have blessed me with the immense foresight to see a change in the procurement of gold to The B Team… BEST TEAM!

Smackdown Tag Team Title Match: The Bludgeon Brothers (Harper & Rowan) (c) vs. Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan & Kane)

Queen KB

For me, this is a no-brainer, yet there are many questions floating around my head. Will they strap Team Hell No? Will there be problems between Bryan and Kane, as we always see when they are together? I’m sure we will, but if they want to push Team Hell No in any real way, then they need to win this match. Okay, I don’t see them winning the SD Tag Team Championship in this match, because this one will end in DQ in some way, but they will win the straps at SummerSlam, if not before. I hope I’m wrong and they will win the SD TTC, but I’m going to play this one a bit more conservative.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – Team Hell No via DQ, Bludgeon Brothers retain TTC

Baron Botch
The Bludgeons have been on quite the tear lately and I love it.  Team Hell No is back together for a short while for fun.  I’m not really into this because I want this to end so that Miz and Bryan can have the feud they should have had a while back.  The Bludgeons need to keep those belts and feud with Sanity.

THE WINNAH – THE BLUDGEON BROTHERS

Sovereign Sam

Some people may be looking at the Team Hell No as a step down for Daniel Bryan since he was cleared to resume his wrestling career but I think it isn’t that bad of a thing. For one, the team is still over and the crowd reaction to their reunion is evident and the have chemistry for days. Now I am a huge fan of Luke Harper but the Bludgeon Bros have done absolutely nothing on Smackdown to me. They are scary and squash people but that has been about it. I want to like the Bludgeon Bros but they need to show something more to their characters to engage me.

The Winners and NEW Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions: Team Hell No!

Duke Dre

Winner: The Bludgeon Brothers retain (off a distraction from Miz)

Mistress Marie

You know, I get it. I really do. Bryan has WWE backed into a corner, allegedly, and VKM wants to do all of the programs it can do with him that they can in the few months left before he walks. That’s somewhat understandable. But this rushing from one nostalgia trip to another hurts. It honest to Freya is giving us fans whiplash. Last month, we had the Ultimate Underdog, this month is Hell No, and next month is obviously going to be Miz. It’s too much. And don’t get me wrong! I love Bryan, always have. But the more we whip around like this, the more you risk damaging Bryan as a character. As for the match itself, this should be fun and interesting. I question how the end will come, but I have a good idea. We see Bryan give Kane a hot tag, Kane comes in and tears through the Brothers and is getting ready to chokeslam Rowan when Miz rushes out of the crowd and attacks Bryan on the apron, leading to a DQ.

Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley

Queen KB

Argh! This is the one match on the card that I don’t want to see. This holds no meaning for me, other than hopefully, in the long run, getting the strap of Brock Lesnar. Not that he should, but it appears as though Lashley is the guy slated to get the strap off BL, so I have to go with Lashley to win this one. Beyond that, I’m hoping that if things go the way they should, Lashley will defeat BL at SummerSlam, then Braun will cash in and destroy Lashley. That protects BL from being taken out by someone who isn’t MMA, which might be the best thing McMahon can give the whiny cuss at this point.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – Lashley

Baron Botch
Finally, Bobby Lashley has awoken and kind of halfway gotten me into this.  Kinda.  A little.  A bit.  It’s already been rumored that Bobby will be the one to finally dethrone Brock.  Further, I have no desire to see Brock vs. Roman ever again….so.

THE WINNAH – BOBBY LASHLEY

Sovereign Sam

Here we come to a rivalry that I haven’t really gotten into that much. Granted, this has gone way better than Roman/Jinder and Lashley/Zayn but that doesn’t mean that it has been that great to me. Bobby has been a real dud since returning and he has kind of shown something in this program with Roman but he still needs to kick it up another notch. Roman is Roman and the fans have made their opinions about him known and this just has crowd taking over the match potential.

WWE Title Match: AJ Styles (c) vs. Rusev

Queen KB

Since Raw doesn’t have a Championship that is defended more than once every three months or so, depending on when the paper champion cares to grant us with his presence. Yes, I’m bitter, but that leaves AJ and Rusev to work the main event at Extreme Rules, which is a wonderful thing, especially for Rusev who had been stuck in mid-card purgatory for way too long. That being said, I have a gut feeling that Rusev is going to win this match. Yes, SD is the house that AJ Styles built, but it might be time for him to drop the strap, start spreading the love around. Nakamura couldn’t get the strap off AJ, but I’m thinking Rusev might be able to do just that. Now, I’m not sure if Lana will be ringside with her husband, but I’ll be shocked if English isn’t, and he’s the factor that will change the obvious outcome of AJ retaining. I’m going out on a limb and picking Rusev to win the WWE WHC on Rusev Day.

Queen’s Predicted Winner – Rusev

Baron Botch
I’m so glad Rusev is finally getting a real shot at a main event title.  Given that he didn’t really get the upper hand during “Smackdown Live” this week, I’m hoping he can pull this out.  AJ wouldn’t be hurt in the least bit by a loss and Rusev has more than paid his dues.  I really want him to win.

THE WINNAH AND NEWWWWWWW! – RUSEV MATCHKA!

Sovereign Sam

Believe it or not, this has been one match I have had a tough time picking. On one hand, AJ is the WWE2K cover athlete and is on top of the company so him losing doesn’t seem likely. On the other hand, Rusev is one of the most over superstars in the company and this would make the most sense to strike when the iron is hot and strap him. Sometime WWE does the unexpected and sometimes they just go with the status quo. I think I will have to go with what makes the most sense to me rather than what just may happen.

The Winner and NEW WWE Champion: RUSEV!!!!!!

Duke Dre

Winner: AJ Styles (clean)

Mistress Marie

I should be more excited for this match… This is Rusev’s first solo shot at a World Title and a match that is sure to be one of the best of the night because it involves AJ Styles. But… I’m not. The build has focus so much on the catchphrase “The house that AJ Styles built” that it feels plodding to me. Also, while I would love to see Rusev’s capture his first major championship in WWE (no, the US Title doesn’t count), AJ is too hot right now. Maybe by the end of the year, we can celebrate a championship Rusev Day.
