Randy Orton evolved his character again this week, bringing him back to being heel. He’s wanted to return to his heel persona for a while now, as even he knows he’s a better heel than face. He knows he can be more creative in that role. Last year on Edge and Christian’s podcast, Orton stated:
“I love it and I’m going to use that, hopefully, sooner than later when I turn heel again…I’m sick of this babyface thing, that’s for sure.”
Orton recently stated how much harder it has been to stay in shape as he inches toward turning 40 and would rather wrestle in jeans and a t-shirt, as it would be easier than adhering to the strict diet he follows now. He further states that his lighter schedule has helped a lot, and could make it so he can hopefully work the ring for another ten years.
QD – I have to say that I’ve never been the biggest Orton fan, but like certain other superstars, he’s a natural heel and should be allowed to work to his strengths. He all remember when he was a sadistic and vicious heel, and that was some of his best work. I’m excited about this turn, as it’s something Orton has needed for a very long time, I just hope they don’t water down what made Orton one of the most hated heels over the past fifteen years.
