Paul Wight, known as Big Show, has been away from the WWE ring for almost a year due to his hip injury and surgery. Originally his deal was set to expire in February, but he’s signed a multi-year deal and should be returning to the ring sooner than later.
Show stated that he plans to be backstage at SummerSlam so he can be cleared by the WWE doctors who will be there. He’s stated, “Hopefully within the next couple of weeks, I will be back in the ring.” He had hoped to be back sooner, but a post-op infection slowed down his healing and rehab. Previously he’d stated that he might be retiring soon, but has stepped back from those comments. “All you can do is get yourself as prepared as you can and then when the opportunity is given, make the most of it. I’ve been around this business a long time. Trust me, if they give me the opportunity, I’m going to knock the freaking crap out of it.”
QD – I’m so excited that Show will be returning soon. I know a lot of people are over him, but I’ve been a huge fan of his for a very long time. I’ll admit that knowing, as he’s stated numerous times, that he’s interested in retiring in Maine, as he spent a number of formative years here and loves snow, but I’d rather watch him work the ring on WWE TV than stalk him here. No, I don’t actually mean stalk him, but knowing he’s close, like Stephen King, is something that makes me giddy when I’m down.
