I’m Not Your Mate

A thousand lashes with a wet turnbuckle!  So sorry this is as late as it is.  This week has been complete and utter madness (not in a bad way) for me and, as a result, this is late.  Of course, better late then never so here we go…

TakeOver, as expected, crushed SummerSlam.  SummerSlam was, to my surprise, very good but it didn’t stand a chance.  Ricochet, Adam Cole (Bay Bay), Velveteen Dream, Shayna Bazsler, Kairi Sane, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, EC3, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, Trent Seven, Tyler Bate – everyone on the show was just amazing.  They should all be very proud of themselves and I couldn’t have enjoyed that PPV more.  I knew Sam loved it as much as I did and so I was so glad he agreed to write “The Afterglow” afterwards.  If you haven’t seen it, have a look (here)

Bianca Belair vs. Deonna Purrazzo

This one was fun.  Bianca’s the real deal and Deonna is too.  Both are hyper-athletic and fun to watch.  Bianca is a fantastic heel and was merciless with Bianca once she really went on the offense.  They came off as very evenly matched and this made for a really good match.  There were definite moments where it seemed Deonna might emerge the winner but it wasn’t to be.  Nice to see that Bianca is still on her way up.  She has all it takes to be a real force.

Backstage segment – Velveteen Dream

He is beautifully impossible.  He was confident and cocky as always.  Loved it!

Backstage segment – EC3

This was almost completely confusing.  He spoke with conviction but he just couldn’t get this together.  He made one salient point about Lars and that’s about it.  Definitely not one of his better segments.

Backstage segment – Ricochet, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, & Pete Dunne

This was brief but everyone did well.  Roderick did well because he didn’t say too much and wasn’t alone when he did it.  Kyle is a great high school bully and Pete was fun too.  He backed up Ricochet but they aren’t friends as the title of this blog says.  He just wants Ricochet’s title.

Cinéma de Intro – Zack Gibson

We needed this as I had absolutely no idea who he was.  He came off well here.  A bit heel but he showed more confidence than anything.

Backstage segment – Shayna Bazsler

We saw this already but they’ve shown it on the proper show.  I thought Shayna did well here.  She was angry and somewhat scattered as anyone would be.  She also went the “She didn’t win, I lost” route which was cool.

Pete Dunne vs. Zack Gibson

I have no clue what’s up with his theme.  Very strange.  I don’t hate it but it just doesn’t have much personality.  Pete’s, on the other hand, is perfect for him.  The UK Championship is a beautiful belt and it’s absolutely huge.  The match was, of course, great.  The double-crab slapping match was fun to watch.  Dunne is known for his joint manipulation and Zack sold it like a champ.  The back and forth throughout this match was just breathtaking.  A real battle.  Zack is a mercenary in there and I like it!  This was a close a match as is possible.  I loved the ending of this.  Zack beat himself with his own arrogance.  Very well done!
