Pick On Someone Your Own Size!

Hey, kids.  It’s the Botching one with another look at the “Illustrious Future” of NXT.  As expected, NXT TakeOver was tremendous.  When isn’t it?  That’s the show WWE gives us – the internet wresting fan – and all of us here loved it.  Let’s dig into what promises to have plenty of recaps from it, shall we?

Keith Lee vs. Fidel Bravo

Finally!  The limitless one is back no NXT.  He is just incredible and I really hope WWE lets him show what he can really do.  He got some really nice chants before the match even started and during it.  Fidel was fun on “205” the day before and he was here too.

They’re painting him as the immovable beast and Bravo sold it all like a champ.  There is this whole other side to Keith and my hope is that, in time, they’ll show it.  The man is perfectly capable of flight.  Can you imagine Ricochet vs. Keith Lee?  I would LOVE that match…and you would too – trust me.

Backstage segment – Shayna Baszler (w/ Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke)

This happened.  It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great either.  Of course, Shayna had just worked her face off in the ring so she can be forgiven.

Backstage segment – Matt Riddle

This was far better than the disaster we got from him last week.  He was likable here.  I’m THRILLED to be wrong and I…ahem…bask in it.  I want everyone to be great, darn it, and he may be okay after all.

Lars Sullivan vs. Keita Murray

I dig Lars.  Many don’t but I do – darn it.  From his theme to his ring work to his promos, he has it completely together.  I’m also a huge fan of Keita Murray.  If you’re not familiar, go check him out on YouTube.  That’s the name he wrestles by on the independents and he’s so much more than we saw here.  This had to be a squash and to that end, Keita did his job very well.  There is more to him so I’d advise you to check him out.  Clearly, WWE thinks something of him too.  He’s been pretty heavily exposed on WWE TV lately and I’m really happy for him.

Fun to see Keith make the save too.   This is turning out to be one heck of an episode of NXT.  My biggest favorites are on and I love it.

Backstage segment – Keith Lee & Lars Sullivan

Nice but short mini-confrontation.  This should be fun to see next week!

Nikki Cross vs. Candice LeRae

Nikki is a total rock star and has been since she came to NXT.  She nails her character, her work is great, and her promos are completely insane.  Candice has been quite the letdown since she arrived.  Like Cedric Alexander, she’s just not getting the acting part of this down.  She’s boring and I don’t care about her.  Her attempted shows at aggression just come across as empty.  Like Cedric, she can absolutely work and all in all, I want to like her.  The match was a lot of fun.  LeRae’s block of Nikki’s bulldog was unusual in a very good way.  Of course, Nikki took this.  As for LeRae, I’m not sure where she goes next, really.

This was very much a “TakeOver” recap show but it also had some fun matches and interactions that make it stand up on its own.  See you guys next week for another look into “The Illustrious Future”!
