So…Cody put out a tweet about asking for independent talent that isn’t signed. Thus begins our backstage conversation:
Sir Mitch – Could he be any less subtle
Baron Botch – Shame that Stokely is signed. Elsewhere, I mean.
Sir Mitch – Where?
Baron Botch – ROH, isn’t he?
Sir Mitch – Think he left some time ago.
Duke Dre – Eva Marie is available still
Baron Botch – Ha! He was the very best part of the Beyond show this past weekend. John Skyler is free too as far as I know. He is fire.
Sir Mitch – Joey Janela isn’t under contract. Once his knee is healed they MUST offer him something. He and Page were the sleeper hit of All In.
Baron Botch – Agreed!
Sir Mitch – Maybe sign Austin Aries too if they can get him to behave.
Magnate Mat – Good luck with that
Baron Botch – He’s so much trouble and his arrogance is much.
Sir Mitch – I’m sure they will have Working relationships with NJPW and Stardom too…so that will help.
Duke Dre – I’m not so sure about that
Sir Mitch – Why do you say that?
Magnate Mat – New Japan is looking to keep their talent more under their roof. Especially with trying to expand their US footprint
Duke Dre – Apparently the guy who helps designs T-Shirts for the Bullet Club knows a guy in TWWD and they DM each other and he said that NJPW wasn’t paying them properly for all the merch they were selling and that’s one of the reasons why they broke off from the Bullet Club and have decided to go off on their own as just the Elite
Sir Mitch – Yeah, but as they only tour the US a few times a year they will need a US promotion to partner with for the rest of the year.
Baron Botch – That might be a quick hit.
Magnate Mat – not really
Sir Mitch – Matt Jackson said that himself on Jericho’s podcast weeks ago! NJPW owns the BC trademark and they were stingy with sharing the profits.
Baron Botch – A rumor quick hit.
Magnate Mat – Mark Cuban is putting money up for their US shows
Baron Botch – Okay, a FACT quick Hit.
Magnate Mat – He and Harold Meij want to grow NJPW in the US on its own merits. I’m sure they’ll work with ROH and others. When it suits them
Duke Dre – Does Cody even need NJPW. They could easily do this new promotion on their own if they have the backing of Jacksonville’s co-owner
Baron Botch – Cody needs no one.
Sir Mitch – NJPW is also letting them do the Elite stuff so I don’t think it’s a bad blood situation. More like a business disagreement that they have now resolved by the look of it.
Duke Dre – If I’m the Elite I want all the money and all the credit.l without help from another promotion
Baron Botch – They broke off from Bullet Club. Agreed, Dre.
Sir Mitch – Unless NJPW starts a US subsidiary promotion…they’ll need to partner with someone. If AEW is to succeed they’ll need star power outside of the cast of BTE….NJPW can provide that. It makes more sense for them to work together at this point.
Duke Dre – Nas said if best “him and Pac had words because the best are suppose to clash at the top” If you want true competition then do your own thing and stand out from everybody else. They go back to bring partners and it’s just the same thing ROH was doing with New Japan.
Duke Dre – Can’t AEW just offer money to ROH or Lucha guys I’d they’re contracts up
Sir Mitch – Pentagon and Fenix are contracted to LU and MLW until 2020 (same with most LU guys) AEW will need more stars if it will get ahead. So a relationship with NJPW still makes sense. Doesn’t mean they’ll be a ROH clone. Besides…lots of US promotions have worked with NJPW in the past and nobody compares ROH with them.
Sir Mitch – WCW worked with NJPW A LOT and nobody compares ROH to WCW.
Duke Dre – If those guys were having money issues with NJPW though that’s kind of a big deal and a good enough reason for them to not wanna work with them. It is for most people at least, I don’t play with my money. Yeah they worked with them every so often but it wasn’t as extensively like ROH/NJPW
Sir Mitch – They had an issue…but then it was resolved when the Elite broke off from BC as far as I can tell. Cody has said many times that he wants to work more NJOW dates in 2019. Elite Merch is also available on NJPW’s Merch store as well so I’m pretty sure they have resolved the issue regarding the share of royalties. The Elite breaking away from BC was probably the compromise both sides came up with.”>Elite Merch is also available on NJPW’s Merch store as well so I’m pretty sure they have resolved the issue regarding the share of royalties. Duke Dre – Yeah and in early 2019 those guys’ contracts will be up
Sir Mitch – NJPW owns the BC trademark and thus probably should get the lions share of profits from it. Bucks and Cody wanted a bigger share of their massive Merch sales. The Elite breaking away as a compromise makes sense. Actually, Bucks and Cody’s deals are already up! They’ve agreed to work dates without a contract through 2018 and have agreed to work Wrestle Kingdom. Actually, Bucks and Cody’s deals are already up! Baron Botch – The Elite are the hot thing now. They deserve what they ask for – whatever it is.
Baron Botch – NJPW’s B.C. name will have little luster now. They attraction is largely gone.
Sir Mitch – My guess is they’ll resign with NJPW (but not ROH) and start setting up AEW. They still have some great workers…and are recruiting more. An awesome Australian worker called Robbie Eagles just joined.”>They still have some great workers…and are recruiting more. An awesome Australian worker called Robbie Eagles just joined.
Baron Botch – They aren’t Cody or The Bucks or Scurll.
Sir Mitch – Tama Tonga is almost as entertaining on Twitter as Becky honestly
Baron Botch – I won’t think Finn could do what Cody and the Bucks have done. AJ either.
Sir Mitch – No, but they can do more if given the opportunity. Give them time.
Baron Botch – They changed to the industry. Tama Tonga is NSFW Becky
Sir Mitch – BIG TIME
Baron Botch – Tanga Loa ain’t much better.
Sir Mitch – Very happy he’s been given an opportunity now that the BC OG’s are now the only official BC.
