Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) vs. Chris & JC Metro
Montez just has buckets full of “it”. He’s also the best thing to happen to Angelo Dawkins. Dawkins is game for this for sure but it wouldn’t work at all without Montez – personality-wise and in the ring. The back and forth between Percy & Nigel during their entrance was hilarious. On the other hand, Mauro’s constant hip-hop referenced feel completely forced and I really wish he’d stop doing them. Chris & JC remind me of Deuce N’ Domino – remember them? Chris & JC were both trained at the Dudley Boyz wrestling school so this should be fun.
This was a pretty good job match. Angelo & Montez were getting each other going early in the match and Angelo took Montez down. That was odd. The energy between the two of them was in absolute overdrive. The Forgotten Sons came out for their pound of flesh and we now have ourselves a feud, it seems. The chants of “we forgot you” from the crowd lets you know their standing. They’re not over and they’ve got an uphill battle ahead of them to get there. It’s not just heel heat they’re getting either; it’s “we don’t want you here” heat. Not good…
Backstage segment – Matt Riddle & Keith Lee
Matt can’t talk. It’s that simple…bro. Next…
Cinéma de Smoke Machine – Aleister Black
Passion and intensity. That’s how you do it. Nailed.
Bianca Belair & Shayna Baszler (w/ Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir)
The crowd loves here and they should. She’s amazing in the ring and on the mic. She was a little stiff here but she hasn’t done the “mic in the ring” thing very much so she’s allowed. Shayna came out and made this really fun. It lit a fire under Bianca and she loosened up. The crowd got in on this too. I absolutely love the Full Sail crowd for stuff like this. It almost made Shayna crack a little too. It’s understandable. Great segment!
Adrian Jauode vs. Dominik Dijakovic
Jauode is the grappler and Dijakovic is big, angry dude. I’m not sold on Dijakovic yet but I’m open-minded. Jauode got in some offense but Dijakovic was the focus here. A jobber-to-the-stars match. Not a terrible one either.
Cinéma de Pyromania – The War Raiders (Rowe & Hanson)
They sounds NOTHING like they look. Their voices should be deeper and rougher. There is, of course, not a thing they can do about that but the voices betray their look. It undoes them when they talk too and I prefer them when they don’t.
Johnny Gargano vs. Humberto Carrillo
Carrillo had a great match on “205 Live” this week so there’s on way this won’t be fun. The back and forth here was great. Carrillo did all he could but Gargano shifted his tactics to put Carrillo away. Gargano had to win but Carrillo has made himself look absolutely incredible lately. Good for him!
Cinéma de Really Dark Place – Tommaso Ciampa
All Ciampa segments – be they wrestling or talking – are must-see. He’s in Black’s head and it’s so much fun.
Kassius Ohno vs. Keith Lee
Yeah, CFO$ didn’t exactly nail Keith’s theme. He deserves far better than this entirely too quiet, string-y theme. Kassius’ is FAR better.
There is a match posted from a bit of a year and a half ago between Chris Hero (Kassius) and Keith Lee when they were both working for Beyond Wrestling. It’s (here) if you want to check it out and you should – it’s phenomenal. That said, I know what this match should look like and how good it should be. Of course, they don’t get as much time but they did what they could with the time they had. They do not take it easy on each other and the match is all the better for it. Ohno’s chops are just deadly. Keith is huge so he can take them but those chops performed on anyone else would cave in their chest. The ending of this was just great. Kassius gets the heel heat but the victory is dirty. Nice. Further, as Percy said, Kassius has become the man he hates the most. Nice story. Riddle came running out to further the feud but there was no touching.
