Dean Ambrose Leaving WWE: Shoot Or Work?

As we are sure you have heard by now, there have been reports floating the last 12 hours claiming that Dean Ambrose is unhappy with the creative direction of his character (who can blame him) and has opted not to re-sign with WWE when his contract comes up in April.

We held off on reporting this story as it just seemed too fantastical to be true when you consider he’s still one of the companies top stars and his wife Renee Young has become the first female commentator in WWE and his beloved by both fans and WWE management. So while we looked for further info in order to get confirmation, WWE took the unusual step of actually seeming to confirm the story themselves by releasing this statement:

“Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”

In an era where WWE is throwing big money around to try and lock down as many talents as possible for the sole purpose of ensuring nobody else can sign them and grow to become possible competition, its a bizarre move on their part to give up on trying to re-sign Ambrose so soon…let alone announce he’s leaving months in advance!

So naturally, many here within Wrestle Royalty are skeptical and consider this whole thing an attempt by WWE work news sites (WWE are practically starting a PR campaign against news sites these days, and some fans are wholly buying into it sadly)

But on the other hand, Ambrose is by all accounts not someone who is motivated by money and does not live an extravagant lifestyle. So it’s not impossible that this story could be true and he may be looking to explore his options within the industry or could maybe even be considered early retirement as his wife will be a mainstay on WWE TV for many years to come.

Stay tuned to Wrestle Royalty for any further news in this still-developing story!

Sir Mitch Says: I honestly feel this story is a work, but I’ve been wrong before.
