Are Pentagon Jr And Fenix Signing With AEW?

Over the past number of weeks, Matt and Nick Jackson along with Cody have been appearing at independent shows that members of the All Elite Wrestling roster are working. They continued that streak as they appeared at ‘McAloon Productions” ‘Come Hell Or High Water’ show on February 1st. Matt and Nick stepped into the ring with the current MLW and IMPACT World Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. and Fenix after The Lucha Bros defeated Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels in a tag team match.

Matt Jackson had a conversation with Pentagon and Fenix which led to him inviting The Lucha Brothers to come and wrestle for All Elite Wrestling to which to the two luchadores shook hands with The Young Bucks, Christopher Daniels, and Frankie Kazarian.

This has led to speculation running rife online that the Lucha Brothers have now signed with All Elite Wrestling. However, it may not be that cut and dry!

As of the time of this posting, AEW has not officially announced they have signed Pentagon Jr and Fenix, and it is well known that both brothers are signed to Lucha Underground until 2020 and they have their exclusive US TV rights to their services which they are currently sharing with partner promotions MLW and Impact Wrestling.

Lucha Underground did place an out clause in all of their talent contracts in case a fifth season of their ElRey series never comes to pass, so it is possible that they have been let out of their respective deals. However, as fellow LU star Ivelisse as been pretty vocal about the fact they won’t let her out of her deal and as there have been whispers of a fifth season possibly being greenlit, it seems unlikely that Pentagon Jr and Fenix have been set free.

However, it is also possible that LU have worked a deal out with AEW for the Lucha Brothers to appear on AEW shows. Which could also lend weight to the rumour that AEW will have a partnership with the Triple-A promotion in Mexico as they have a hand in producing Lucha Underground and Fenix is also the current Triple-A Mega World Champion.

At any rate, these are exciting times, and it seems to be just the beginning of a contract war between AEW, NJPW/ROH and WWE to lock up all the talent they can.

Stay tuned to Wrestle Royalty for all the latest news in the “contract wars.”

Sir Mitch Says: If AEW truly has worked through all the red tape and gained the services of Pentagon Jr and Fenix (and it looks like they have) those are two HUGE gets for the company!
