Do Not Get in Our Way, Do Not Question Us, and Do Not Piss Us Off!

Hey, kids!  It’ the Botching One with another look at the Here & Now.  This show was a bit up and down so let’s get into it, shall we?

Dominic Dijakovic vs. Shane Thorne

Oh, look, another big angry dude in a jobber match.  Angry dude is so overdone in wrestling.  I need more dimension from guys like this in order to care.  Shane Thorne is another one I’ve never really cared about.  Nick Miller asked for his release and went back to Australia (thanks for the reminder, “Asukalanchian”) so Shane is pretty lost right now.  Shane got some offense in here at but this was little more than a jobber match.  Dominic’s very agile and not afraid to fly.  I did enjoy his corkscrew plancha because it was so unexpected and really well done.  I also like that he sold pretty well during Shane’s offense.

Backstage segment – The Undisputed Era

This goes as it always goes.  Adam Cole is crazy good, O’Reilly & Fish are great, and Roderick Strong is a dullard.  We learn that Fish & O’Reilly are back to being a tag team again.  This leaves Roderick to achieve singles success.  Oh goody.  Still, very good promo and Roderick’s part is relatively short so that’s always a good thing.

Backstage segment – Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, & Bianca Belair

This was fairly dull until Bianca showed up.  She wants another shot at Shayna BEFORE Io gets near her.  Bianca was sufficiently egotistical and determined.  She saved this segment.

Cinéma de Catwalk – Kassius Ohno & Keith Lee

Before Stacey & Humberto can do a thing, Kassius shows up.  Kassius is fantastic on the mic.  He’s outta here and he’s gonna go somewhere he’s appreciated.  Keith Lee came to take him out while he was berating the crowd. Keith now has another feud which gets him on TV.  Never a bad thing.  Keith is a fool and I love it.  Both of them have charisma for days.  Really fun segment.

Street Profits vs. Stacey Ervin Jr, & Humberto Carrillo

Montez…DEAD!  LOL!!!!  He came out and laid down next to Kassius.  I can’t breathe.  I’m literally laughing as I type this.  Dude has buckets full of “it”.  He is truly a gift to us all.  I enjoyed the rather heel-ish “offer the handshake and double-cross” too.  It made sense to do it there.  Fun seeing Carrillo back again.  He is just so much fun to watch.  They have him WORKING.  Stacey was basically in here to sell damage and he did it sufficiently.  Montez’s suplex to Ervin was just vicious.  The Street Profits have become a little meaner and I like it.  It needed to be to add further dimension to the team.  Fun match.

I really enjoyed the promo too.  Montez just wins.  It’s that simple.  LOVE his mic work.  Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel have made zero impact on me so yeah.  Oney Morgan & Danny Burch came out too but didn’t speak.  The War Raiders did speak and they really shouldn’t.  As I’ve said before, they have the voices they have – not their fault.  Still, their presence and ring work get the job done regardless.  The Undisputed Era blindsided the War Raiders and then it became pandemonium and mayhem (thanks, Gordon Solie).  The War Raiders cleared the ring of everyone and stood tall.  Well done.

Taynara Conti vs. Aliyah

Aliyah’s character has been tweaked.  Now, she’s bougie.  Got it.  Vanessa Bourne The match was decent.  Apparently Aliya and Vanessa Borne have an alliance now.  We’ll see where that goes.

Before they could really enjoy their victory, Shayna was out.  While they were focused on Shayna, Aliyah and Bourne were just wasted by Duke & Shafir.  They ate Taynara too.  The issues all stem from a Twitter video that went up of Shayna, Jessamyn, and Marina invading the women’s locker room and attempting to wreak havoc.  It didn’t go the way they wanted it to, hence the destruction of all three of these ladies.  Shayna sold what’s become the title of this blog like a champ.  She looked diabolically furious.  The grade marries these two pieces and Shayna is responsible for most of it.

Ricochet vs. Adam Cole (Bay Bay)

Few themes are better than the themes these guys have.  Ricochet’s is just so majestic.  It belongs in a Marvel movie.  It’s electric, grand, and propulsive – truly some of CFO$ best work.  The Undisputed Era’s is great too.  It’s just so menacing and drips in attitude and bravado – just like the faction it was written for.  Love the “both these guys” chants.  That’s about how I felt too.  Ricochet really sold like a rock star in there.  I even like the way they got to it.  Beautifully done.  Great storytelling.  He shouldn’t have been able to climb to the top rope but whatever.  His springboard maneuver off of one leg later in the match made far more sense and was even more impressive.  The ending sequence was fun too.  Of course, this couldn’t just end cleanly and the Undisputed Era was out to end Ricochet.  Aleister came out too but he met the same fate.

So closes another pretty good edition of “NXT”.  This wasn’t perfect but it was highly watchable – most of it.  Don’t forget to join us here at Wrestle Royalty.com for Dignified Discussion:  Elimination Chamber beginning tomorrow at 5:30pm.  See you again next week for another look at the “Here & Now”!
