An Interview with Paul Crockett

Paul Crockett is a name you should know. He is the play-by-play commentator for Women’s Wrestling Revolution, Beyond Wrestling, and the host of the “Foreign Aces” podcast.

Beyond Wrestling is one of the preeminent promotions in independent wrestling. Notable alumni like Keith Lee, Kassius Ohno, Kevin Owens, Tomasso Ciampa, Mia Yim, Ricochet, and Matt Riddle have performed for the Beyond faithful. The current crop of Beyond stars – among them Jordynne Grace, David Starr, Josh Briggs, and Orange Cassidy are names you should know, and if you don’t, fire up YouTube and get familiar.

I had an opportunity to interview Paul and we discussed a myriad of topics

– New Japan Pro Wrestling and ROH ‘Honor Rising’ shows this weekend

– The growth of Beyond Wrestling, social media engagement, and the upcoming weekly show on IndependentWrestling.TV

– The “Treasure Hunt” tournament that Beyond Wrestling is holding this weekend in Rhode Island

– The method and the madness of Drew Cordeiro (founder of Beyond Wrestling also known as Denver Colorado – the man, not the place)

– Calling matches with wrestlers

This was a really fun discussion and my first talking with someone who does commentary. Paul is a very knowledgeable individual who genuinely loves professional wrestling. I hope to have another conversation, maybe prior to the Battle Of The Super Juniors or the G1 tournament.

If you haven’t seen Beyond, events are available on IndependentWrestling.TV.  If you are a new subscriber, they typically offer a 2 week or 20 day free trial.

Paul’s podcast, Foreign Aces, which he hosts with Christopher Boyce and Matt Camp, covers New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Noah and some really fun back and forth between the hosts  You can find that podcast at most streaming platforms like GooglePlay and Stitcher.
