It has been reported that WWE has signed two more stars from the indies. Shane Strickland and Garza Jr. have reportedly signed with the company and will report to the WWE Performance Center on April 9.
Shane Strickland is a veteran of the business and has spent his time in various companies prior to signing with WWE. He had stints in CZW, Evolve, Lucha Underground and MLW. In Lucha Underground he was better known as the masked wrestler “Killshot” and was a one-time Trios champion with the Mack and Dante Fox. In MLW he was the Heavyweight champion and held that title for three months before losing it to Low Ki. On March 8 at a DEFY Wrestling event, Shane Strickland said goodbye to fans and said it would be his last appearance, and said that he’s moving on for “better and bigger things.” WWE has shown interest in the past for the former MLW Champion. He declared himself a free agent in January after being able to fulfill the rest of his Lucha Underground deal.
Garza Jr. is a Mexican wrestler that spent most of his time wrestling in Mexico for AAA. Garza Jr. then left the company in 2017 and has spent time with Impact Wrestling since. Garza was supposed to join the company last year but his deal fell through when he suffered a shoulder injury, which made him fail the WWE physical test. He was offered a new deal and this time was succesfully able to pass the test. Garza will be making his last indie appearance at The Crash show on Saturday in Tijuana.
S.A.M.’s Spiel: Both of these men have been on WWE’s radar for some time so it will be interesting to see how they do in the company. Strickland is an amazing wrestler and I believe he can do big things in NXT and hopefully can make it to the main roster. Garza is an interesting one because WWE have been hit and miss with luchadors in the past. Given they offered him a contract last year, it would appear they have plans for him. I am excited to see what these men can bring to the company.
