Special Interview: The Nobodies (NSFW)

When I started doing interviews, I really didn’t have a list of who I wanted to talk to per se, but I did have some “wish list” type gets. Getting to talk to The Nobodies was in that category. The trio of Ariel Italic, Lady Bearica, and DJ Accident Report had been running drag shows and pageants in Brooklyn prior to getting into wrestling content, but their visibility escalated when their YouTube show “Nobodies Watching Wrestling” began. Reviewing WWE shows, and then grew into reviewing New Japan and AEW shows, a “Ring Gear Remix” podcast and other content expanded their audience and are getting different voices into a fandom that desperately needs it. The interview was done in 2 parts. The first part is with DJ Accident Report (who also contributes in places like Vice, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone) and Ariel Italic, the second is with Lady Bearica, who was kind enough to take time out of her tour in Independence, Kansas to talk with me.

We discuss a number of topics across both interviews

– Getting marginalized/minority voices in the wrestling fandom space

– Our mutual love for independent wrestling superstar Effy (Twitter – @EFFYLives)

– Can the WWE handle an LGBTQ storyline with any competency?

– Trying to help Ariel become “The Head Librarian” (if you watch AEW or BTE, you’ll get this)

– The misguided Star Trek cosplay from “All Out”

– How wrestling has more queer and minority wrestling fans than most would think

I had a ton of fun doing these interviews as I am a fan of the group and maybe I can talk with them again in the future.

Content Warning – Some saucy language, but nothing excessive
