In a move absolutely no one actually saw coming, the rumors and innuendo can now come to a screeching halt. Right at the end of the show, the guy who’s name just wouldn’t go away, CM Punk, came out to join Renee Young, Booker T, Adam Cole, & Paige and he’s now joined WWE Backstage. Here’s the (cleaned up) tweet directly from WWE on Fox:
UPDATE: A Facebook reader, Jeremiah Jennings, pointed us to this article from the New York Post. It’s a tabloid but there’s some rather substantive information in it. Here it is:
The 41-year-old Punk, who appeared in the recent movie “Girl on the Third Floor,” joining “WWE Backstage” is not a complete shock. Fox screen-tested him for the show, and he has been doing commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships. Kevin Dunn, WWE’s executive vice president for television and production, told The Post in September that Fox was “looking for some controversy” with “WWE Backstage”, which opened last week by drawing a disappointing 49,000 viewers.
Botch Take: Well, well, WELL, well, well, well. Next week should be QUITE interesting. He didn’t get to say much this week but he’ll get to say far more next week for sure. Everyone’s been waiting for him to come back to wrestling and he sort of has now. Enjoy, kids. You now have your CM Punk back.
