According to a report from PWInsider, Marty Scurll has singed a new deal to remain with Ring of Honor. The two sides had been working on a deal for some time after Scurll’s last deal expired at the end of November. The length of the deal is not yet known, but ROH has been locking down talent to multi-year contracts of late, so this could be another one.
It was also reported by PWInsider that Scurll is taking on lead booking duties for the company. Hunter “Delirious” Johnston remains with the company in a creative capacity and will be working with Scurll, but Scurll will have the lead position for creative with Johnston working in conjunction with him. Scurll was heavily involved in all aspects of ROH’s event last night in Atlanta from a behind the scenes perspective. The upcoming 2/9 free event in Baltimore was a Scurll idea.
It appears that Scurll’s new ROH deal will also allow Scurll to continue to work for the NWA. The NWA storyline for Scurll versus Aldis bled over into last night’s ROH event in Atlanta, where the NWA tapes TV.
S.A.M.’s Spiel: Well this is certainly a shocking turn of events because I am sure many of us expected to see Marty in AEW or NXT. ROH must have backed up the truck full of money for Marty because it was rumored that they were offering him “WWE main roster money” in order to keep him. It seems that, on top of that, adding the lead booking position was enough to keep him. I know many will probably disappointed by this news but ROH made Marty an offer he couldn’t refuse.
