Well, we’re one week removed from WWE SummerSlam and right into another PPV in Payback. The show is looking good, but with only a week between PPV’s the build up has been nonexistent. We’re not here to discuss that however, it’s time for our predictions so let’s see who we (and you) think will leave as winners.
The last thing we need is Nia holding gold until she’s actually trained to not injure people. I think it would be great for Bayley and Sasha to lose their tag straps, but not to Nia. Honestly, I worry for the safety of both Sasha and Bayley in this match, and they are two of the best in WWE. I’ll be shocked if they aren’t injured by Nia! Anyway, the last thing I want is Nia to not be training to learn to wrestle, but I think she and Shayna will win the straps here to further the Sasha/Bayley storyline. There are already growing issues between them, and Bayley costing them the tag straps will be the final straw.
Winners & New Tag Team Champions – Nia & Shayna
I really have not been feeling this Shayna/Nia stuff and them as a team isn’t working for me. I know they just came together but it just doesn’t feel like they are meshing quite yet. This match is really all about Sasha and Bayley and what will happen. Bayley has been taking some shots at Sasha about losing the Raw Women’s Championship and Sasha does not look very happy with her best friend over the comments she is making. This match could be good so long as Nia doesn’t mess it up like she has a tendency to. Sasha also said she would get vengeance during Smackdown and looked right at Bayley when she said it so that should come into play here. My pick for this match is more about what I see long term happening rather than what I want to happen.
The Winners and NEW Women’s Tag Team Champions: Shayna and Nia
I love that we’re FINALLY seeing some strain in Sasha & Bayley’s relationship. We’ve been waiting since the Boston Tea Party for some sign of issues and we’re finally getting them. People have no attention spans but the speed of this, while slow, has just made me want it more. Shayna is being misused in every conceivable way and Nia could never work. Slapping them together is just bizarre but okay. Who wins? If Shayna & Nia do, it could be fun on two levels. On one, Shayna and Nia have to co-exist. The other is, of course, the further disintegration of Bayley & Sasha. All of that is a bit too much to resist so…
THE WINNAHS! – Shayna & Nia
Well this came out of nowhere right? I get that they have a week to build up a story for the titles, but for starters is makes no sense for Nia and Shayna to suddenly agree to work together. Secondly it’s a slap in the face of all the current tag teams being pushed to the side and these two women getting a title shot with not even one match under their belts. Now there is no way Bayley and Sasha leave with the titles, and it’s not because Shayna and Nia are a great team and deserve it. It’s because Sasha is turning on Bayley, she’s sick of her attitude and being in a one-sided friendship.
Winners: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax
3 out of the 4 ladies in this match are very good wrestlers, the 4th is a danger to everyone. Bayley and Sasha are a good team together and will be almost as good as normal, however Sasha is a bit pissed at Bayley. It will show a little, not yet fully as it’s too early, but it’s starting to show. Shayna will be the Rockstar of this match and Nia is not going to care who she beats on as long as she hits someone. As much as I think Shayna should be one of the winners, this is a case of Boring Bayley and Sasha who wins, it will not be clean as it usually isn’t with them, but it will be interesting.
Winners – Bayley and Sasha
Bayley and Sasha Banks (c) vs. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax
- Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax (67%, 8 Votes)
- Bayley & Sasha Banks (33%, 4 Votes)

This one is easy, so I hope there’s more to it than Crews simply screwing over Lashley somehow, and retaining the US Championship. Crews needs to continue his streak over The Hurt Business, driving them madder and madder. I don’t know how Cedric can get involved, turn heel and make a hash of this match and Crews retains, other than a DQ. Therefore Crews retains after Cedric turns heel and tries to cost him the title, but causes a DQ.
Still US Champion – Apollo Crews via DQ
I feel like this is more of the feud and set of matches we should have been getting rather than seeing Apollo take on MVP. No disrespect to MVP but I feel like the more money in the match quality resides with Lashley than him. Apollo has done well since he has gotten this push and I think this could be a pretty good match. The Hurt Business isn’t banned from ringside for this match so you can totally expect MVP and Shelton to get involved in some way. I think that will lead to Ricochet and Cedric to come to Apollo’s aid and this will be when Cedric turns heel to join the Hurt Business.
The Winner and NEW US Champion: Bobby Lashley
I can’t convey how much I love seeing Apollo get all this shine. It’s really cool. Bobby’s been better lately than he’s ever been – largely because he has someone doing all the talking for him. The problem here is that neither of them can take the loss, really. Bobby should be kept strong and Apollo really should too. The Hurt Business is unconvincing without some gold so as much as it pains me to type this…
THE WINNAH – Bobby Lashley
This makes more sense to me than MVP. No disrespect to MVP, but he’s supposed to be a manager who wrestles time to time, that works. Instead he’s lost time after time after time to Apollo and it’s made him look so weak, that I don’t understand why people would want to follow a serial loser. I don’t see Apollo leaving with the title once more, but I don’t think (or at least hope) he’ll be made to look weak and lose clean. You know Shelton Benjamin and MVP will be nearby and will screw Apollo allowing Lashley to pick up the victory.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
Apollo is a very good wrestler, Lashley not so much. Neither is great on the mic, but Apollo is better and both are improving. Lashley could really use a win right about now, but Apollo is on fire and doing great. Apollo is a better wrestler and a better character than Lashley and really should win. I think Bobby will win, but only because Cedric Alexander is going to turn heal and join The Hurt Business. Cedric will intervene in the match and will cause Apollo to lose and Lashley will win. Boo.
Winner – Lashley
Apollo Crews (c) vs. Bobby Lashley (with MVP and Shelton Benjamin)

- Apollo Crews (9%, 1 Votes)

I have little to say about this one, as there’s no way The Fiend should be dropping the strap this soon. Obviously this is how to move Braun out of the title scene (hopefully still involved with Bray, Bliss, and Nikki), and bring Reigns back to where McMahon thinks he should be, though without the strap. I hope Bliss/Cross will be involved in this in some way. They were used really well on SD, especially Bliss! I’m expecting she will absolutely get involved in this in some way. Then there’s Heyman who will try to help Reigns win the Uni strap, but I think it’s too soon and screws The Fiend in a way that will send the fans into a tizzy. Even after Heyman with Reigns, I have to stick with The Fiend retaining, because it would be a travesty if he doesn’t.
Winner – The Fiend
The Big Dog is back, and he is here to get the title back. It is funny that they said this match will be no holds barred and I am thinking that Retribution will make some noise during this match and it will be reminiscent of when the Shield made their debut to help CM Punk. Punk acted like he didn’t know what was happening, but it was all Heyman’s plan which is even more similar since Heyman was seen sitting next to Reigns on Smackdown. I feel like this match could be fun and it will be interesting to see how the Fiend works in a triple threat match. I feel like Braun is in this match as well to take the pin so the Fiend and Roman can be protected. I hope this match can deliver and we get some involvement from either Alexa Bliss, who showed she has cracked a bit on Smackdown, or Retribution. I got to go with my gut here for this match.
The Winner and NEW Universal Champion: Roman Reigns
It’s simply, really. Roman Reigns is back. He’s got Heyman. Oh, and he doesn’t lose.
THE WINNAH – Roman Reigns
There are so many possibilities in this match it’s going to be so hard to predict. You have the element of Alexa Bliss who I think could come out (like she was reportedly supposed to do at SummerSlam) and screw over Braun. Then you have Reigns’ alignment with Paul Heyman. With his heel turn and now joining Heyman, it makes me wonder if maybe Reigns [like Braun] could also be screwed over in this match. Now hear me out, this is a bit left field, but what better way to bring back Brock Lesnar than to come out and take out Reigns, seeing as he can’t be happy with Heyman’s new client. Then we can’t dismiss RETRIBUTION, they are for sure the wildcard at this PPV and seeing as they’ve been quiet on Smackdown, could we find one of these men (probably Reigns) as their leader? I think whatever happens, Bray will and should leave with the title and I think it’ll be Braun that takes the pin.
Winner: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
This is going to be an extremely interesting match to watch and now that the Fiend is doing real matches, not those horribly weird ones, like against Braun and Cena. This can go either way as they are all good wrestlers, of varying degrees. Normally I would say that Braun and Bray’s history is going to make it easier on Roman, as they would focus on each other more and give him more of a chance to win. However, I think that in this case it will make it harder as at some point they will turn on him and work together because of the shared history. I think Roman has been gone for so long that he will need to win and VKM will want him to cater to him a little bit.

I honestly don’t have a clue how to book this one. Lee can’t lose clean to Orty, but Orty going over Lee clean is also a bad idea. Because this is such a strange PPV, only a week after SummerSlam, I’m going to book it a bit strange myself. I see these two absolutely killing it in the ring. They are going to give us exactly what we want from two great superstars. It’s going to be a really even match, until it looks as though Orty is going to be going over Lee, then RETRIBUTION will come in and cause this to be a screwy mess.
Winners – RETRIBUTION
Have I said how 2020 is the year of Orton? I have? Well it is still true, and the man is putting in some of the best work of his entire career during this year. Keith Lee is being thrown right into the deep end of the pool by being inserted into the Drew/Orton feud. Lee is an amazing talent, and this is a good test to see how he will do by sharing the ring with Orton. The thing about this match is I do not expect a clean finish at all. I totally expect Drew McIntyre to make an appearance at some point and go against any doctor’s orders. That does make choosing a winner or outcome rather difficult because I fully expect some sort of shenanigans to protect both men. I think I will just go with my gut on this one.
The Winner: Keith Lee by DQ
This was fun to see on Raw this week. It had to be broken up by Drew for storyline reasons so I’m glad to see this match really happen again at Payback. Keith is an incredibly athlete with personality to spare. This should be a really fun match. There is the wildcard of Drew once again and I think he may stick his nose in here. Couple that with Keith Lee himself and…
THE WINNAH – Keith Lee
This year really has been one of the best years for both these men and now we get to see them face off once more. It really says a lot that Lee is facing one of the top stars one week into his start on the main roster. Now we had Drew McIntyre cause a DQ in their first encounter and while I don’t know if that’s what’ll happen again, but neither man should lose this, so I think it’ll end in another DQ. I think Orton won’t be looking for the victory, but will be looking to send Lee to the hospital, that is until Drew comes out to make the save.
Winner: Keith Lee by DQ
Randy is a jerk, but he’s the one having a great year. Keith is doing pretty good, not really a fan of either of them. If I could, I would say neither wins, but Keith should win this. Randy needs a bit of a takedown. Keith to win, if one of them actually wins this match.
Winner – Keith

Rollins keeps going over Rey and Dom, so I think this is where things change. Man and son come together and take Rollins and Murphy down, at least for three. I’m guessing it will be Murphy pinned, and I hope it’s by Dom, as that would be the best for everyone involved. I don’t know if this will end their feud, but it’s a win that the Mysterio’s need going forward. As per usual, I expect Dom to steal this match, because he’s just killing it in the WWE!
Winners – Dom & Dad
Dominik has done some great work so far in WWE and that is quite an accomplishment. I expect Rey to do most of the work in this match so Dominik can take a bit of a break since he has never had to work matches like this in such a short amount of time. The thing about this match too, is that Rey and Seth are set to have a match on Monday so I think that could telegraph who I choose to win here. Seth has been doing great work as a heel and Murphy has done a good job in going along for the ride even if he has questioned Seth a few times. I do expect this match to be fun and for Dominik to continue to show strides in his work.
The Winners: Dominik & Rey Mysterio
This one is all vengeance. This feud has taken every imaginable turn. This isn’t full of nuance like Ric & Dusty were so it can’t just go on for a long period of time. The only thing left to do is break up Dominik and Rey…and I think that’s what happens here. Poor daddy…
THE WINNAHS – Seth & Murphy
Will this be the feud ending payoff? I’m not so sure about that but I think it’s time for Rey and Dominik to get one over Seth Rollins. Now we know Austin Theory is back but in NXT again, I don’t think we can expect any returns or new members to help Seth and Murphy.
Winners: Dominik & Rey Mysterio
Ok they are all really good wrestlers, some of them are fantastic. However Rey and Dominik will win, because they are better and not because I don’t like Seth and Murphy as heels. My vote is for Rey and Dominick because I love them, I have been a big fan of Rey’s since the 90’s. So Dominik and Rey to win!
Winners – Dominik & Rey

This will be a lot of fun. Riddle has been really impressive in everything he does on WWE TV. He said something about his partner on SD, so I’m expecting Shorty G to get involved in some way during this match and Pete Dunne will appear and take him out so Riddle can get the win!
Winner – Riddle
This match is finally official after they have been teasing it for some time. Riddle has been great since his call up and I have enjoyed this feud so far. Corbin is still the best heel in my eyes, and he has done a good job on his end in the build of the feud. Riddle is amazing in the ring and Corbin is totally underrated in the ring so this could be a sleeper of a match. I hope they give it some decent time because this match could be quite the solid one. Riddle has been on a roll of late and Corbin is none for losing the big matches for the most part. I think Shorty G will play a role in this match too and that sways my pick a bit here.
The Winner: King Corbin
This feud has been spinning its wheels a bit. I mean, I like them both and this will be a fun match but I’m not terribly into it. I’m hoping Chad will be involved in this somehow, but they’ve even kinda defanged him lately. They had a chance to really make something of him and they don’t seem interested in doing it. I dunno. I’m just not that into the story of this match. They appear to be bent on making Riddle mean more and that’s exactly what they should do. He’s got a tremendous upside and he’s got his own style which I’ve grown to like, though I hated it to begin with.
THE WINNAH! – Matt Riddle
It’s funny how King Corbin put out a ransom for Riddle yet only Shorty G has tried to claim it. I’ve not been sold on this feud, I wanted to as I really enjoy both men, but this has just not had me hooked. Shorty G will obviously try to help Corbin, but I think Riddle will be prepared for this and come out the victor.
Winner: Matt Riddle
Matt is good in the ring (ok I don’t like him and will never say he is anything better than good) he will come down with that turd under the nose expression and really try to win. However, Corbin will outclass (yes I cannot believe I’m saying this) and outwrestle him. Corbin will win.
Winner – Corbin
