Matt Riddle Case Update

Documents just became available for everyone to read regarding the sexual assault claims that were levied against Riddle by Candy Cartwright (RN: Samantha Tavel). As previously reported, Riddle has denied any wrongdoing and even had a restraining order filed against Cartwright. The restraining order was granted due to the following, but you can read the entire filing at this link if you like (addresses and phone numbers have been redacted for security):

  • “Committed stalking.”
  • “Previously threatened, harassed, stalked, cyberstalked, or physically abused the Petitioner.”
  • “Threatened to harm Petitioner or family members or individuals closely associated with Petitioner.”
  • “Used, or threatened to use, against Petitioner any weapons such as guns or knives.”
  • “Destroyed personal property, including, but not limited to, telephones or other communication equipment, clothing, or other items belonging to Petitioner.”

However, in an interesting twist, less than 2 days prior to a hearing that he and Cartwright were to attend, his lawyer filed a voluntary motion to dismiss. For now, it appears that the situation may be over, but we will continue to follow if anything else develops.

Jason’s Jest: Having read through the transcripts and filings, I’m more inclined than ever to believe the assault never happened. Granted, getting the TRO dismissed does look kind of shady in some instances, but could be a legal move for other reasons.
