Royalty of the Ring: Round 1 – Rosemary vs Kay Lee Ray

What a battle Nikki Cross and Mia Yim had, with it being neck and neck and a last second victory to Mia Yim. Now we’re onto the third of four, first round matches, so let’s see who’s joining Mia Yim & Bianca Belair in the semi-finals.

I will just start off by saying the obvious and that is that Rosemary is the most unique and interesting wrestler in the world that is not named “Bray Wyatt” and I do not think there is debate for that. She stays in character for everything she does from her social media, to when she games on Twitch and to when she does interviews. She is truly unique and that is why those, including myself, in the Hive love our Demon Assassin. The other great thing about Rosemary is that she is not only one of the best characters right now; she is also one heck of an in-ring worker as well. She knows how to mix up her ring work with her character work and it makes for some amazing things inside the squared circle. Rosemary is truly one of the main reasons I will continue to follow Impact Wrestling because she is so amazing in and out of the ring.

The reason why I chose this match from Rosemary’s catalogue is simple really. This match is dubbed the “Demon’s Dance” and it shows how she is willing to put her body on the line. She took on Taya Valkyrie, another amazing female wrestling in Impact, and this was quite the awesome hardcore match. It had plenty of weapons and great wrestling in the match and it is a great introduction into why so many of us in the Hive love Rosemary. They start from the opening bell and give us one heck of an ending as well. This was just two of the best female workers in the world putting on a show for us wrestling fans.

You’ll be forgiven if you haven’t seen or heard of Kay Lee Ray, I mean who really watches NXT UK? After today however, there’s no way you can turn around and say anyone in this tournament is more deserving than the Hardcore Daredevil. The longest reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion has shined on the Indies and deserves her time in the limelight with WWE. There is no doubt KLR will be called up to NXT, followed by the main roster before long, and be a guaranteed top star. Don’t believe me? Then watch my chosen match below; you’d honestly be a fool to ignore it and select the easy choice in Rosemary.

Don’t get me wrong Rosemary is fantastic (and I would know, as I’m one of the few people who actually watches Impact), but compared to KLR? There is no comparison! I could list you so many 5 star matches, not just from the Indies but in her short time with WWE too, but I’m here to select one match to show you why I KNOW Kay Lee Ray would win this match and head straight into the semi-finals.

I went back and forth on which match to highlight Kay Lee Ray at her very best, and ultimately I went with her match against Meiko Satomura at Pro-Wrestling: EVE, because it has everything. Fantastic wrestling, incredible brutality, excitement and a well deserved “This is awesome” chant. Let’s be honest here, you stick this match in WWE, AEW, NJPW and it headlines, no question about it.

Two tough women, but only one can go on to face-off against Bianca Belair, that decision is yours, so vote now! Please vote based on only what you’ve read and seen here. Let’s make this a fair tournament. (Poll ends Friday October 23rd, at 8pm ET).
