Sunday, October 25, WWE presents Hell In A Cell from the Amway Center, also known as The ThunderDome, in Orlando, Florida.
Jeff Hardy vs Elias
Other than being thrilled that Eli is back, I have no interest in this match. I’m more than over Jeff Hardy and was before he returned for his latest run. I’m just one of those people who has never been enamored with Jeff and have yet to find a reason to care, even though he is a very well-rounded and talented man. Then there’s Eli who isn’t as talented on the guitar, and in other creative adventures, but he has a great look and the personality to carry the character. He’s everything Jeff Jarrett couldn’t muster up and so much more.
Being that Eli is newly back on WWE TV, and stuck in a feud he had nothing to do with, he needs to win this match so he can move on and find a real feud. There has to be someone much better for Eli to feud with than Mr. Over-The-Hill.
Winner – Elias
From what I’ve read Elias is due for a big push, which would make sense given how he was written off a few months back. I expect this Jeff/Elias feud to last a little while. I’ve been one of those who’s expressed my desire to see Elias be booked more prominently. He’s got a good look, he’s always been entertaining on the mic and knows how to draw heat so it’s always baffled me that he hasn’t been utilized more. I’m crossing my fingers that this Sunday starts an upward trend with him with a win over Jeff.
I mean…I know why they’re doing this. This is about the old feud from before Elias got injured. I get it…I just don’t care. I’m thrilled that Elias is back but I hate that he’s being saddled with Jeff Hardy. Jeff just sleepwalks through feuds and phones in matches. Elias deserves better so here’s hoping after this blows the feud off, he can get move on to something and someone else. As for who wins, there’s only one way this should go. I mean…he has an album coming out!
THE WINNAH!: Elias
Elias is back, honestly I thought he was one of the ones released because of Covid, I am glad to know that is not so and he is back with a mission. He is saying that Jeff is the one that injured him with the car, not sure what Jeff says, but it makes a good story. Elias in the short time he has been here has gotten hurt too much. He has never had a good long run due to injury. I, for one, would like to see that change now. Jeff is weird and as I’ve said in the past, I’d like to see him go somewhere else. He does not interest me at all, he can be tough but dang it go away, you were better with your brother. I envision a hard match and I do picture Elias beating Jeff to a pulp, but they will both be. If Elias can manage not to get hurt again, I really picture him winning this match.
Elias for the win (please don’t sing though).
Going from Bayley/Sasha to this match makes me sad and I hope that they can do something good together in the ring. This is more of a grudge for Elias than it is for Jeff as he didn’t do anything to him, but Elias believes that Jeff hit him with a rental car. This match won’t be the last one but hopefully, if they have a good match, then I won’t mind seeing more of it.
This will be a match to watch closely. We have a returning Elias coming back after several months away, going against a high flying and unpredictable Jeff Hardy. There will be lots of action in the ring. I am basing my winner on the match type that happens. Since it’s just a typical 1 on 1 match with no stipulations, I think Elias goes over here with the win. However, if it is changed to a Hell in a Cell match, expect Hardy to go over.
Smackdown Championship HIAC: Bayley (c) vs Sasha Banks
I’m sure this match is going to be ugly! The first Women’s HIAC was amazing to watch, until the end when no matter how hard Charlotte slammed Sasha onto a table, she just didn’t have the weight to break through the table. Being that Sasha and Bayley are more of a size, and have worked the Elimination Chamber as well as Sasha’s first foray into HIAC, this match is going to be SICK! I’m not even going to try to come up with ideas of things these two will do in that HIAC, because I’m sure we’re going to leave us sitting on the edge of our seats.
I have completely removed my second paragraph since watching SD this week. I think it’s time Sasha defeats Bayley and really show her greatness in a way we truly haven’t seen since her Raw Championship feud with Charlotte and before that, her run in NXT. Because of going back to watch a lot of their NXT work, and having a very strange Women’s HIAC dream last night, I am going with Banks over Bayley.
Winner: Sasha Banks
The main event of this Sunday’s PPV. Well okay I don’t know for sure what’s going to headline this Sunday’s PPV but if I were Vince, this without a doubt, would cap off Sunday evening. This match is literally 5 years in the making. Their journey started in NXT which lead to perhaps the greatest women’s match ever at NXT Brooklyn 1 which is also probably the match that led to the rebirth of women’s wrestling in the WWE. I could go on and on but I think everything that’s been stated regarding Sasha and Bayley has already been said.
I feel like Sasha is due a lengthy title reign as she’s the only original horsewoman who does not have a successful title defense under her belt. She’s earned it but there also appears to be a Bayley and Bianca Bel-Air feud brewing (the two have exchanged jabs on Tweeter) so this one is hard to call but if I had to choose today at this very moment I think Sasha finally gets her pay off by ending the best women’s championship reign in the modern era and one of the best title reigns in the modern era in general regardless of gender.
While Bayley and Sasha are destined to fight or be linked forever, I hope this Sunday is the blow-off to this angle and we don’t see these two face each other or get involved with each other for a long time.
WINNER: IT’S BOSS TIME
We finally got this feud. The two of them have been a lot of fun together. The question is which Bayley will we get? If we get NXT Bayley, this match will be total and complete fire. If we get main roster Bayley, anything could happen. It won’t be bad but NXT Bayley was always better than main roster Bayley. Sasha has been great regardless. Will this be the match where she finally takes the belt and then gets a good run? I’m going in with her…
THE WINNAH!: Sasha Banks
Now this is the woman’s match we have been waiting for. It took what seemed like forever for those two to get on each other’s nerves, or rather Sasha to wake up and realize that Bayley was using her and their friendship. Bayley has used her to wear down other opponents for a very long time as well as relying on Sasha to help her keep the Smackdown Women’s Title. Sasha would have won it before if not for Bayley cheating. However, she is not going to be able to run away, cheat, or get a time out to retain her title. Oh no Sasha is going to give her a beating that she is not likely to forget for a long time.
Sasha will be victorious, bloody but victorious!
I’ve been waiting for this match and my patience has paid off as this match is going to be on another level. I cannot wait to see what they are going to do to each other inside the cell. I have no words other than I hope that they don’t go too far in the match. The winner is going to be me lol.
Winner and new champion Sasha
The build for this match has been decent as well. We’ve seen Bayley grow tremendously in her heel persona, after many doubted she could pull it off. This will hopefully be one of the matches to watch as it should be very physical and entertaining. In the end, I think Sasha Banks becomes the new Women’s Champion ending Bayley’s reign.
Winner and new Champion: Sasha Banks
WWE Championship HIAC: Drew McIntyre (c) vs Randy Orton
It would take a lot for me to pick Randy Orton over almost anyone on the roster. I’ve been very open about my feelings for Orton, and feel justified as he’s really not worked to his potential for most of his career because he just couldn’t be bothered. People say that kids today are entitled, but they have NOTHING on Orton’s YEARS of skating on his name and his look. He modeled his matches after Flair, so he could fluff his way through it all then hit his finisher to end it.
McIntyre is the exact opposite of Orton. He was struggling and not at all ready, so he worked harder than most wrestlers to learn, grow, and become one of the best on the WWE roster. He’s what getting to the top is all about, and until WWE gives us someone of equal respectability, I can’t pick anyone to go over McIntyre for the strap.
Winner & still WWE Champion: Drew McIntyre
This feud started off really hot but at Clash Of Champions last month the wheels began to fall off and since I feel like everything these two have done afterward is then simply spinning their wheels. Looking at the landscape of RAW coming out of this year’s draft I feel that Drew winning would make the most sense. The Fiend, AJ Styles, Sheamus & Jinder Mahal are all fresh challenges for Drew to face. So my pick here is Drew
WINNER: THE SCOTTISH PSYCHOPATH
They have brought out the very best of each other and that this is culminating in HIAC makes all the sense in the world. They will come with guns blazing here and I’m all in. I don’t even know that I care too much who wins. The mic work that got us here – along with the matches – has been just stellar. Still, I have to pick a winner. Drew has won every single encounter. It’s time that ends.
THE WINNAH!: Randy Orton
Yup, its Randy Orton’s year, if I hear that one more time I’m going to scream. I am sick of this self-centered git. I am tired of seeing his smug face on my tv. I am tired of him, period. Drew on the other hand I could watch more of, he is sexy and has an accent that makes me swoon. If that isn’t enough, he loved his Mom a great deal and he looks good in a suit. I also enjoy watching him in the ring. I love how he said enough was enough and started standing up to Randy after Randy went after one too many of the retired superstars. Their last match (which should have been their last match) was fantastic, with many of the superstars Orton attacked getting their revenge on him during the match. Honestly, that was the perfect ending to the feud in my mind. I foresee this to be the biggest and bloodiest loss of Orton’s career!
Drew for the win!
The way they were going with this feud, it was going to end inside Hell in the Cell. Now I wonder what else can they do to up the brutality as they have hit each other with everything except the kitchen sink and they might use that in this match. I’m going to sit back and just enjoy this match and if I’m right I can see the return of Edge and take out Orton to help Drew keep the title.
Winner and still champion Drew
This match has one of the best storylines going into the event. Orton has been platinum on the mic since going back to the Legend Killer role. Following on the heels of the amazing ending of Raw, the build has been nearly perfect! I think Orton goes over here and becomes a 15 time Champion.
Winner and new Champion: Randy Orton
Universal Championship ‘I Quit’ HIAC: Roman Reigns (c) w/ Paul Heyman vs Jey Uso
I completely stripped out the bits I’d written that were blown up by Reigns on SD, and I don’t like the direction it went. This feels too final for me. Or, it did until I really got thinking about it. This is so much more than the one-off that we all thought Jey would be for Reigns, and it’s so much better than we could have expected.
I’m expecting after this match that the Usos will be out of the Anoa’i family, but it won’t be the end of things long-term. I truly think that this is the big step in the Anoa’i family turning on Reigns as a whole. I’m expecting it to be an ugly match and Jimmy will be involved in some way, but after this, I see the Usos going back to the drawing board and regrouping with Rikishi and others, but it’s all building toward one thing, and I’m surprised I’m the only one thinking in this direction. It seems obvious to me that McMahon is trying to set up for Reigns versus The Rock at WM, and whoever faces Reigns between now and then will not be winning the strap.
I’m going to get right down to the meat of this match and predict what Roman’s stipulation will be if Jey loses (which he will), then he and Jimmy will have to join Roman and Heyman and do their bidding. Fast-forwarding into the future I think The Usos are reluctantly to be under Roman’s thumb at first but will grow more and more comfortable in that role and join Roman and go full-blown heel.
WINNER: THE TRIBAL CHIEF
Who thought this story would be this good? I knew it’d be good but I didn’t think we’d get all of this! Jey has shown himself to be quite capable of handling the main event scene. Roman, too, has been so much more compelling here. This heel turn – one we’ve wanted forever – has done wonders for him. The two of them have exhibited the kind of chemistry that you can only get with family. Incredibly good work from both of them and what was supposed to be, by all accounts, a one-off, has turned into a captivating feud. Who wins here? I really would love to see Jey win…but he won’t. My hope, though, is that the perception of Jey Uso is forever changed. It certainly should be. This is the match I’m EASILY looking forward to the most.
THE WINNAH!: Roman Reigns
This is going to be fantastic! They both are great wrestlers and yes the storyline does bring you in the older cousin wants the younger (only by a few months, but still younger) cousin to kowtow to him. I cannot see Jey Uso ever doing that especially now that it means he, his brother, and their entire families are out of the family. With that and knowing family is the most important part of Samoan culture, Jey is never going to quit, ever! And with those consequences, Jimmy will not do it for him either. Roman will somehow choke out those unbelievable words and say I quit!
Jey for the win and about time.
The brutality of the last match isn’t anything like it is going to be inside the cell and they are going to go to another level in the cell. They both are not going to hold anything back and I’m here for it as this match is going get me to cringe at one point. If Jimmy went in the Cell and help Jey I would love it and I would love to see Roman destroy both of them. Don’t get me wrong I would love to see Jey as Universal Champion but it ain’t going to happen.
Winner and still champion Roman
This is an easy prediction that should be a given. Reigns will 100% retain because he’s not going anywhere. I expect to see outside interference happen in this match, with possibly a return of some sort. It will be physical and it will likely be mostly a grounded match. I don’t expect Jey to get many high spots.
Winner and still Champion: Roman Reigns
MITB Contract Match – Otis vs Miz
This match took me the longest to think through as it would be a travesty for Otis to lose his MITB case, he earned it because he was up for a big push. Yes, Miz is someone who needs to be back at the top, and Raw is the place to make that happen, but he doesn’t need Otis’ case to get it. This feud has been so much screwy fun that I’m going with this one being a messy ending. Neither are the clear winner because there’s just too much more fun they can do with this one.
We’ve been waiting for this one and we knew it was coming. I wish I cared more but Miz and Otis should make a show of this if nothing else. I’m sure Mandy will get involved somehow too to make sure Miz gets his. Who wins? I’m a little torn here. Otis did win the case fair and square but man, it’d be fun if Miz took it and the bad guy won. That’s what I’m going with.
THE WINNAH!: The Miz
I love the reasoning behind this! Miz made a mistake when he sued Otis for the Money in the Bank contract. He really screwed up when he had Otis’s “girlfriend” Mandy sent to Raw. His arguments in court were laughable. And then he bribed the judge? Oh yeah, this is gonna be good. Otis is pissed, even Tucky wants to beat Miz to a pulp. This will be fantastic, and I would not be surprised if Morrison and Tucky got involved, in fact I would love that. Otis is going to wipe the ring with The Miz’s smug face, oh I should mention I am a fan of The Miz, but Otis is fun.
Otis wipes the floor with him!
They have been having a fun feud so far and I’m loving every second of it. This match is going to be a good match as they have good chemistry together in the ring and on the mics. We all know that Morrison is going to interfere in the match and Tucky is going to neutralize Morrison. I believe that Miz is going to by hook or by crook beat Otis and win the Money in the Bank contract.
Winner and new Money in the Bank contract owner Miz
Going into a PPV with all of five matches on the card obviously makes us all giddy as the WR roster really stepped up to give their thoughts for this show. It looks as though they’re setting up for a really solid HIAC PPV, and the WR Dignified Discussion is going to be THE place to be!
