AEW Championship Eliminator Tournament – Final Match
Adam Page vs. Kenny Omega
They’ve done very little building with this. If nothing else, we’ll get a fantastic match out of this. As for who wins, only Page has actually made me care. Gotta give this to Page.
THE WINNAH: “Hangman” Adam Page
Both are good wrestlers and fun to watch, now that Kenny ditched the worn-out gear he’s looking really good. I do enjoy watching both wrestle and honestly, I would love to see them put their issues to bed and tag together again. I hope we finally get the reason Page “turned” on whoever, personally I’d love for it to come out during the match, although the conversation they had in the ring on Dynamite was interesting. I am hoping whatever his reason was it will be big enough for Kenny to make a mistake. If that happens, I honestly hope Page is smart enough to take it and win.
Hangman Adam Page for the win.
This right here is my match of the night. Who didn’t see this being the final though? Even before all the wrestlers were announced, it was only ever going to be these two in the final. As for who wins, that’s the more difficult one to figure out. There’s been reports they’re looking to push Omega, but the same can be said for Page. I’m going with the person I feel I want to see face off with Moxley/Kingston, and while he has had a title match in the past, I think it would be fun to see how Omega would respond to losing to the guy he wanted to split away from.
Winner: ‘Hangman’ Adam Page
AEW TNT Championship Match
Cody vs. Darby Allin
I’m not quite sure why Cody is the TNT Champion again. He had a nice run with it already and made good use of it by taking on all comers. He already did what needed to be done with it and it made total sense that Brodie took it from him when he did. Oh well, here we are nonetheless. Darby is AEW’s crash test dummy. He’s a lot of fun in the ring and they’ve been doing a sub-Sting thing with him lately which I also like. So who wins? Cody would be undamaged by an Allin victory and it’s time really build him into something now if it’s going to happen.
THE WINNAH: Darby Allin
Darby is really good for how young he is and he will be fantastic in this match. But Cody will retain the belt, not because he is good (for the record he is good) but because Darby isn’t a major heel, and it won’t prolong a story.
Cody will win.
I’m not totally sold on this match, I feel AEW tends to speed through feuds and I’d have liked a longer run with Brodie and Cody. While Darby has a lot of talent, his promos just baffle me, like when he did a Jackass moment with Steve-O for absolutely no reason. Anyway I digress, I feel like strapping Darby would be the best move right now, seeing as there’s been no real payoff with Darby’s feud with Taz’s group, the TNT title could add a new dynamic into that.
Winner: Darby Allin
AEW Tag Team Championship Match w/ Stips
FTR vs. Young Bucks
This is quite simply a tag team dream match. Young Bucks have been utterly heel-ish lately and it’s made for some interesting television. FTR has been positioned as heels since the very beginning and that’s where they thrive. They’ve had excellent matches in AEW period and this is where they should have been all along. This match is quite likely to steal the whole night. I really think a definitive win against the Young Bucks will really solidify FTR. The Bucks have been formidable foes for every team they’ve faced and they still look strong without every having the titles. I think that can continue here.
THE WINNAH: FTR
I hate matches like this. I love tag team matches but I hate matches that limit someone’s career. That being said, The Young Bucks can’t afford to lose unless they are planning on leaving AEW. They will win because they have to either win or leave if they want to continue to tag together.
The Young Bucks for the win.
I’ll keep this short and sweet, Matt Jackson should NOT be wrestling with an injury, it’s unsafe not just for him, but the others in the ring too. I think it’s too soon for FTR to drop the titles, and with Matt being injured it just makes no sense to strap them.
AEW Championship “I Quit” Match
Jon Moxley vs. Eddie Kingston
The story for this match has been just incredible and I was totally talked into it weeks ago. This past week just solidified it. Other than MJF, Kingston is the best heel in wrestling right now. He is the very definition of a heel. I see him on my screen and I dislike him utterly, yet I want to see what he’s going to do next.. That’s as it should be. Jon has been phenomenal since he got to AEW. He just feels so much more natural in this environment. His run as champ has been really fun too. So does it end here? I doubt that very seriously. I think Mox pulls out the win here. No matter what happens though, I think the story will keep me engaged throughout and this is another one that could steal the night quite easily.
THE WINNAH: Jon Moxley
Moxley has been a very good champion. Kingston is an ok wrestler. Moxley is tough and tenacious, Kingston does nothing for me. As this is an ‘I quit’ match it will be brutal, and neither are going to lose easily. Moxley is not going anywhere so he, and AEW, would be really stupid to get rid of him. Moxley will beat the crap out of Kingston and walk away still the champ, a bit bloody and bruised but still the champ.
Moxley still the Champ.
This feud has been phenomenal, and I don’t use that word lightly. When Kingston came into AEW I wasn’t sure on him, sure he was good in the ring, but he was just an annoying loudmouth to me. Now however, he has not only sold this feud, but he’s convinced me he could actually pull out the victory. I’ve been feeling Moxley’s time as champion is coming to an end, and until the last episode of Dynamite I felt Kingston wouldn’t be the man to take the title, now I’m not so sure. I’m still going to stick to my guns and somehow Moxley either makes Kingston quit, or causes the match to HAVE to be stopped.
Winner: Jon Moxley
The Elite Deletion Match
Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara
Matt has done little memorable since debuting in AEW. The unhinged Hardy we thought we’d get has been largely absent. This will be Hardy’s first match back since his concussion in this last match with Guevera (he was concussed; I don’t care that AEW tries to hide it). Sammy himself started out pretty hot but he’s cool off recently. Were it not for the Elite Deletion aspect of this match, I doubt I’d really care all that much. That facet alone has me interested. I’m sure Reby will be involved in its creation and she’s phenomenal with stuff like this. Cinematic matches like this are where Hardy truly shines. Who wins? Guevara’s place is set in the Inner Circle right now. Hardy has yet to have a real breakout moment in AEW and while I know he’s at that stage in his career where he should be putting others over, he could use a moment like this one to become a bigger deal. I think that’ll happen here.
THE WINNAH: Matt Hardy
Who cares? Honestly, who cares? Sammy is a little poop with a mouth, Matt is nearing the twilight of his in-ring career. That said both can hold their own in the ring and Matt has a lot of experience. Sammy needs a win to prolong his career, this won’t be the one.
Matt will win.
I really, really, REAAAAAAAAAAALLY don’t care about this match. This feud has been a train wreck from the start and just when I thought it was finally over, they decided to keep it going, yet they barely build on it other than some cheap shots here and there. I honestly want Matt to hang up his boots up and work behind the scenes, and for Sammy to feud with MJF. For that to happen there’s only one winner that makes sense to me.
Winner: Sammy Guevara
AEW Women’s Championship Match
Hikaru Shida vs. Nyla Rose
In short, I don’t really care about this. Shida’s run as women’s champion has been really lackluster. Not her fault either. It’s just that AEW doesn’t care about its women’s division. This match is essentially thrown together. Nyla went weeks without even being on television and I’m suddenly supposed to care about this? Yeah, it doesn’t work that way. Who wins? Shida has had the title for a while and, again, her run has been utterly boring. It’s likely time for a change and at least Vicki will be out there to spice things up a bit.
THE WINNAH: Nyla Rose
OMG a woman’s match, not with the “right” competitors but a women’s match. I would love to see Shida drop the belt, but not to Nyla Rose. They will wrestle, and it will be a fairly ok match. Not great, but ok.
Shida will win and retain the title.
Who cares? No seriously, who cares? I don’t.
Winner: Hikaru Shida
Inner Circle Entrance Match
Chris Jericho vs. MJF
Regardless of what one may think of the man, no one has been more selfless when it comes to putting people over than Chris Jericho. At the end of the day, he will do what’s right for business. He’s busily built stars the entire time he’s been in AEW. MJF is quite simply the best heel in AEW. Both can go in the ring quite well, thank you, so this should be a lot of fun. The story itself has been really fun. The only person who wants MJF in the Inner Circle is Jericho. No one else does and it’s really been fun to watch this take shape. La Dinner Debonair was just bizarre fun. MJF and Jericho together in the Inner Circle would be impossible…and I think I’d love it.
THE WINNAH: MJF
Two huge egos are meeting in the ring. This will be the match of the night in my humble opinion. MJF is young and doing fantastic. Jericho is experienced, wily, and tough. MJF is not tough and strong. Jericho is not so egotistical that he won’t help put someone over and help their career. I can see Jericho losing and MJF joining the inner circle. But that’s so that the storyline can move to MJF trying to take over down the road and a massive and fantastic feud will ensue. That is what I’m looking forward to more than this match.
MJF will win.
This is another feud that has been such fun to watch develop, I’m really happy they brought this back from their brief moment of teasing a union. Both men are gold on the mic and solid in the ring, so I have big expectations for this match. Jericho seems to be looking at elevating young talent, he did it with Orange Cassidy and we’re seeing the same with MJF. I see MJF winning this and causing the Inner Circle to splinter, maybe intentionally or not, but I’m going to love every second of it.
Orange Cassidy vs. John Silver
This is another one I’m not invested in. It’s just kind of thrown together. Cassidy is great and I’m all for him appearing as often as possible. His gimmick is silly and he’s totally made it fly in AEW when few thought it could. I’ve always liked him. John’s a Dark Order lackey and he’s handled his role well. Who wins? It’s gotta be Orange.
THE WINNAH: Orange Cassidy
Orange is hot right now and doing fantastic. Silver is a bit ho-hum, I forgot who he was. He is not very memorable and well I don’t see big things happening with him. Orange has had some fantabulous matches lately. He went toe-to-toe with Jericho and came out on top, He also scored big against him on the mic. I see lots of good things happening with this young man including this match.
Orange for the win.
I was expecting to see more come from Orange Cassidy after his victory against Jericho, and while he had a couple of fun matches against Cody for the TNT title, he’s now in a random low card match with John Silver. Why? Beats me. Anyway, the fact this has been built better than the whole of the women’s division speaks volumes, but I won’t go into that. I don’t see why Silver should be winning this match and I don’t think he will.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
NWA World Women’s Championship
Serena Deeb vs Allyson Kay
Again, no real reason to care. Deeb is fun in the ring and Kay is no slouch either so they’ll make a match out of this. This collab between NWA and AEW isn’t really needed. If anything, NWA needs it FAR more than AEW does. The NWA name has been sullied by fly-by-night promotions wearing that name for decades and it should have been retired. NWA doesn’t have a show right now because of COVID-19 but even when they did, it was nothing more than a nostalgia exercise; it certainly wasn’t “must watch”. Add to that fact that AEW has shown no regard for women and this match will come and go without incident. Serena just got the belt so I’m sure she’ll keep it for now.
THE WINNAH: Serena Deeb
Oh wow, a second women’s match. Unfortunately, it’s not even an AEW match. I don’t care who wins, I wish it wasn’t on the card. I want to see Big Swole and even Britt Baker or any of the AEW women. One of these women will win so let’s just be ornery and say Allysin Kay because well why not lose the belt in a match that should not be happening on an AEW show.
Allysin Kay for the win, Big whoop!
I’ll be honest I know nothing about Allyson Kay and has this feud even been featured on Dynamite? If so I must have blinked and missed it. This is yet another women’s title match that I have no care for, AND it’s only on the Buy In. Let me go flip a coin.
Winner: Serena Deeb
