Hey, kids, your friendly neighborhood Royals have returned to offer their predictions for WWE’s annual “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs” show!! Feel free to vote in the polls and share your thoughts in the comment section! Let’s get it.
WWE Championship Match:
Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles (w/ Omos)
Botch: This should be a really fun match. The match that gave us AJ as the #1 contender was really fun too. Both are quite capable of tearing the house down and they just might do it. The added attraction of Omos should be interesting too and I’m sure he’ll get involved at least a little. Who wins? Drew’s runs with the belt thus far have been really cool and there’s no reason this one should end yet. Further, I want my Drew/Sheamus feud for the belt…even if it might end up being Keith Lee that Sheamus feuds with.
THE WINNAH!: DREW MCINTYRE
Dre: I’m highly intrigued by this match up. For starters this will be the first time Drew and AJ have shared the squared circle together, secondly there’s the looming threat of Omos in AJ’s corner and boy oh boy is he a physical presence if there is one. Thirdly, there’s Miz with the MITB briefcase. Fourth, there’s Sheamus who’s made it his mission to have the back of his long time buddy Drew McIntyre and then there’s Keith Lee who for whatever reason has made it his business to make sure Sheamus doesn’t stab McIntyre in the back. Whew, that’s a lot to unpack isn’t it?
Aside from everything else that can potentially be a factor in this match this will definitely challenge Roman/Owens for MOTN. While I think Miz and Morrison will attempt to cash at some point during this match I don’t think Sunday is the right time for a successful cash in. Drew picks up the win.
The Winner: Drew McIntyre
Sam: This feud has been built up nicely and I am sure this has all the makings of being a match of the night contender. Drew is thriving as champion and AJ is proving how much of an all-time great he is in his current heel role. I wonder if Omos will get involved at any point because he has been used to help AJ out during his matches but nothing too grand. This would be a good time to do it but it may not happen. There is also the specter of the Miz cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase as well after the match and I have no doubt that we will at least get a tease. This match should be a lot of fun and I will go with the person that makes the most sense at the moment.
The Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Drew McIntyre
Eleazar: This is going to be a great match as they won’t leave anything on the table. I know that Miz and Morrison aren’t far behind as the Miz has made it clear that he has the briefcase and knows how to use it successfully. Sheamus is going to be in the corner of Drew but I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing. I hope that this match isn’t the last between the two as they could have great matches for sure.
Winner and still champion: Drew McIntyre
Firefly Inferno Match:
The Fiend (w/ Alexa Bliss) vs. Randy Orton
Botch: The build for this has been exquisite. They’ve referenced the past feud they were in and created some new moments for this one. We’ve never seen this particular match before so who knows what we’re in for. Alexa should add some interesting color to this too. As for who wins, I think the Fiend could use this win. He really shouldn’t be losing at this point.
THE WINNAH!: THE FIEND
Dre: WWE doesn’t pull the trigger on high profile heel vs heel programs very often (Fiend is a heel or atleast a tweener right?) but so far this has been executed well. Like with Roman/KO, this is a program being revisited from 2017 but with a new twist. I’m not quite sure how this match will conclude but I don’t think we’ll get a conclusive finish here. For starters most of RAW’s other top acts are currently linked to the Drew/AJ program so it makes since to extend this Orton/Fiend feud another month until those major players become available for either guy to move on to feud with next.
The Winner: No Contest
Sam: This has actually been quite the fun build and it really is based on the promo work by both men. Bray is one of those once in a lifetime talents in wrestling on the mic really with how devoted he is with whatever character he is portraying. Orton has had a been of a renaissance in 2020 and is easily a leading candidate for wrestler of the year with how great of a run he has had. It will be interesting to see what this match looks like and how it ends up being booked as well. Bray and Randy haven’t had the greatest track record with their matches in their history so I hope this one makes up for it.
The Winner: The Fiend
Eleazar: This match is going to be crazy as I don’t know how you can win or what you need to do to win a crazy sounding match and I’m all for it. The last time these two feuded the matches weren’t up to par with the way they hyped up the matches. This is going to be a crazy messed up match and hopefully they don’t go to far.
Winner the Fiend: Bray Wyatt
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka and ???
Botch: Hard to predict this one because of the mystery teammate. I’m thinking maybe Lana comes through in the clutch and she’ll be in the match. The dirty sheets have been reporting that she’s out for other reasons. It’d be high-larious if she shows up anyway. Wouldn’t it be the best story of she comes back and she pins Nia to win? What the heck? I’m going for it!
THE WINNAH: ASUKA AND LANA!!!!!!
Dre: The story going into this one isn’t so much who will win this but more so who will be Asuka find as a partner to replace Lana in Sunday’s match. I’ve heard Charlotte Flair’s name pop up as a possibility but her returning in this scenario doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense here. So with that said my guess would have to be either Dana Brooke or Mandy Rose. Here’s how I think things will play out. Shayna attacks Asuka prior to their match forcing Adam Pierce to fill both Lana and Asuka’s spots in the match which will lead into Mandy/Dana vs Nia/Shayna with Mandy and Dana pulling of the surprise upset.
Winners: Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke
Sam: I truly hope that Lana actually is the one to compete in this match because she has totally earned it with the work she has put in during this program. If she doesn’t compete, I can totally see a returning Charlotte appear as her partner. Shayna and Nia are fun but I do wish Shayna was the one chasing Asuka right now because their matches could be fire. I really don’t know what to expect from this match because of the fact that there is the unknown of who will be Asuka’s partner. I think if Lana does indeed come back that they will win. If Lana actually is replaced then I don’t know if Asuka and her new partner win the titles.
The Winners and STILL Women’s Tag Team Champions: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler
Eleazar: I’m going with my gut and saying that Lana would return as she has build up a pain tolerance with being put through the tables every week for 9 weeks. Jax and Baszler are going to be beating on Asuka until Lana makes the save. This match is going to help build Lana for some revenge on Jax is what I hope for in the match but Lana and Asuka isn’t going to win the match though.
Winners and still Women’s tag team champions: Jax & Baszler
Roman Reigns (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Kevin Owens
Botch: Oh, this’ll be fun because this is the best Roman Reigns we have ever gotten! This is the version of him that could be HOF-worthy. The two of them can tear it up in the ring but I think the story will be the most fun. Roman has been trying to make Kevin bow down and he absolutely won’t. Kevin has been great at refusing to care much for this version of Roman. There’s no way Jey doesn’t get involved in some way. I’m wondering if Jimmy might too. It should be about time for him to come back, right? Anyway, this won’t be “down the middle”…but Roman will take it.
THE WINNAH!: ROMAN REIGNS
Dre: Heel Roman vs Face KO is a great spin on a match/feud we’ve seen before. A few yard prior to this they had a really good feud that lead into a great blow off match at the 2017 Royal Rumble that wolf of been match of the year in any other year had it been for that epic Cena/AJ match later that night. Kevin Owens is the perfect opponent for the Tribal Chief for this type of match as Mania season approaches. While I expect KO to bring the fight to the Big Dog I don’t think it’ll be enough to dethrone Roman for the seat at the head of the table especially given all the rumors swirling around about a potential Roman/Goldberg match at the Rumble. Roman wins with an unexpected assist from a returning Jimmy Uso.
The Winner: Roman Reigns
Sam: I have loved the build for this match and it has really done a good job in showing that Owens is someone that can be in the main event scene. Roman has been ruthless in the build and has not stopped attacking Owens so he knows his place. Roman has truly come into his own in this role and it is such a pleasant sight. I think we all figure that Jey Uso will get involved during this match and I think it would be an interesting twist if Jimmy Uso came back and helped Roman. That is if he is 100% right now. I think this has all the makings to be the match of the night and I feel like we may see Owens take quite a nice bump or two since he has no issues with putting his body on the line. I do think the winner is predictable but I don’t think that will interfere with the potential quality of the match.
The Winner and STILL Universal Champion: “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns
Eleazar: This is going to be a slobberknocker of a match as the Tribal Chief has thrown everything at Owens and Owens has refused to back down especially after that beatdown on Smackdown Friday. It is going to take a lot to keep KO down and Roman has what it takes to make it happen. This match hopefully isn’t going to be there last and they don’t get injured in the process.
Winner and still champion: Roman Reigns
Smackdown Women’s Championship Match:
Sasha Banks vs. Carmella
Botch: This has been a fairly classic feud. Carmella has become a mean girl and I like it. She does it really well. I never imagined I’d see Sasha on the opposite end of a feud like this but she’s really pulling it off. Carmella unjustifiably catches a lot of crap for her ring work. I’ve never understood that because it makes zero sense. She absolutely CAN go. I think she’ll show us that here…again. Do I think she’ll win? Nah. I like Sasha as champ for a bit. She’s given that belt up quickly in the past and this reign is meaningful. I say Sasha keeps it.
THE WINNAH!: SASHA BANKS
Dre: Sasha is probably in the best position she’s ever been in her WWE tenure as I type this. She finally has her first title defense under her belt. And she’s getting good reviews in her role in “Mandalorian”. So I see no reason creative to take the title off of Sasha right now. As this feud with Carmella progressed I suspect that we’d see Sasha up the aggression and slowly start to turn heel as we head into 2021.
The Winner: Carmella via DQ
THE WINNAH!: SASHA BANKS
Sam: This has had a pretty decent build but it hasn’t been the best. Carmella has pretty much gotten the better of Sasha for the most part and that really makes it seem like they are painting Sasha as not the strongest champion. I am sure the match will be good since Carmella has really improved during her time on main. Sasha is of course one of the best in WWE right now so she is a great dance partner for the match. I actually don’t know what to expect from the match because there was a DQ in their previous match so that could be a sign as to what may come. I hope the match is solid because they could surprise us with this one.
The Winner and STILL Smackdown Women’s Champion: Sasha Banks
Eleazar: The back and forth with them two has been solid and hopefully this match is going to be good match. I really don’t see this being the last match between them as Royal Rumble is going to be the last match. I know the doubt around Sasha keeping the title but I don’t see her losing it so soon.
Winner and still champion: Sasha Banks
Raw Tag Team Championship Match:
New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) vs. Hurt Business (Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin)
Botch: Cedric has been on fire lately as a character. He’s always had it as a worker in WWE but now his character is catching on the way it used to when he was in CWF. In spite of what he was showing us, there really was character there and now, we’re really seeing it. Shelton and he work really well together too. Both of these teams will make a match of this and MVP will assert himself as need be. Who wins? Tough one, really. I do like the idea of the Hurt Business getting more gold so I’m going there.
THE WINNAH!: HURT BUSINESS
Dre: This program has brought out a version of Cedric Alexander that WWE audiences have never seen before. He’s showing us so much personality and a never level of aggression that most never knew he had and I’m loving every single second of it. It would be a missed opportunity to not strap Cedric and Shelton this Sunday. So I’m gonna roll with it. The Hurt Business pick up the win.
Winner: Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin
Sam: This is undoubtedly the match that could totally be a show stealer based on what we have seen from them in the past. Kofi and Woods are such a good team and Shelton and Cedric have come into their own as a team as well. Speaking of Cedric, the man has come alive over the last month or so with being a heel and I love how much his ego has grown. This is a match that really can be a ton of fun if they give if the proper amount of time. Even if they don’t, the men involved will surely try their hardest to give us a good match. I think there is only one outcome to this match that will make the most sense in the long run and I hope they go with it.
The Winners and NEW Raw Tag Team Champions: The Hurt Business
Eleazar: This match has a great build especially building up Cedric with a more prominent role in the Hurt Business and I’m loving every minute of it. The back and forth with both teams has been delicious especially with Cedric taunting New Day and getting under Kofi’s skin. This is going to be a great match and I don’t see New Day keeping the tag titles.
Winners and new tag team champions Hurt Business (Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin)
