Our Valentine’s Day Royalty of the Ring match is all about brotherly love, when Kane and The Undertaker (Brothers of Destruction) take on Ring of Honour legends, The Briscoe Brothers. Let’s take a look at the tale of the tape.
BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION
Kane and Undertaker are legends in their own right. While tied together via their kayfabe brotherhood, both were impressive singles competitors for more years than most wrestlers, when they came together they were downright amazing.
Their storyline brought them together, saving Kane from lack-of-character purgatory, turning him into one of the longest running WWE superstars who could and did more for the company than he ever would have as a dentist. Undertaker was a top guy in his own right, and had been for a couple years before his younger, yet taller, brother was brought in. Of course they feuded, but after that, they took the WWE by storm when they came together as the Brothers of Destruction. They could take on any team that got in their way and always giving us a great show. Company men through and through, both of them grew and evolved through the years, as singles, as a team, and sometimes even against each other.
I chose this match, because it had the Brothers of Destruction in the ring with four of the best of the WWE Tag Division, plus Meng and Rikishi’s attack. While not at all built like their opponents, with a very different style from them, as normally it would have been The Hardy Boyz in there, but Kane and Undertaker made it work. Made it look great.
The Briscoe Brothers don’t have anything on the Brothers of Destruction. There’s no comparison between two guys who helped carry the WWE for years, and two guys who work for Ring of Honor, alongside other indie companies. The only rightful way to vote this week is for the Brothers of Destruction.
THE BRISCOE BROTHERS
I picked the Briscoe brothers because I was impressed when I first saw them in ROH many years ago and I’m always impressed by them no matter who they are facing in the ring. I’m in a big fight against the Queen as she’s picked the duo of Kane and Undertaker, also known as the Brothers of Destruction. Individually they’re great, as well as together, but they’re not even close to half as great as the Briscoe Brothers, who are real life brothers unlike Kane and Undertaker.
The Briscoe’s have had successful singles careers, but as a tag team they are one of the best teams on the planet and they set the bar when it comes to tag teams in ROH. They’ve had many great battles over the years with amazing tag teams, even winning the IWGP Heavyweight tag team titles from the Guerrillas of Destiny.
I picked their match against The Young Bucks, as this shows why the Briscoe Brothers are one of the best tag teams as they can face a wide range of opponents, including arguably one of the ‘best’ tag team around, and still come out on top.
Now it’s over to you, which legendary brothers get your vote? Please vote based on what you’ve read and seen here. Let’s make this a fair tournament! (Poll ends Friday February 19th, at 8pm ET).
