Saturday, April 10, WWE presents the first night of WrestleMania 37 from Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida. WWE scheduled WM week to be tighter than we’ve ever seen it, which has made it tougher to get our predictions to you, so please bear with any last-minute changes to the matches that are not reflected in what we’ve written and shared with you. We hope you enjoy our predictions, take our polls, and share your own thoughts below.
Smackdown Championship Match
Sasha Banks (c) vs Bianca Belair
I’m so excited about this match. These two women are at the top of their games, and they will leave it all out there in this match. I don’t think anyone expects this to be anything less than spectacular. These two will be making a WM moment like Sasha’s never had before. Even though she will be losing the SD Championship, this could be Sasha’s best match, because of who she’s facing. Their chemistry is fantastic, their moves and styles go well together, but Bianca’s power and heart will push her to her first WM win at her first WM. Oh, about the title to this section, the women have more than proven they’re just as great as the guys, so I see no reason to make a big point about their straps being specifically for women, so I’ve dropped the word. NXT has flirted with doing that, so I ran with it. I apologize if it’s confusing, that was not my intent.
Queen’s Predicted Winner & New SD Champion – Bianca Belair
The build for this match hasn’t been the greatest but I am still looking forward to it. It will be in the main event slot for night one and I do not mind it. I know both women will bring it and will go out there to prove they deserve the spot. I will say that this match feels rather obvious as to who should win because, while Sasha’s reign has been great, it is Bianca’s time to shine right now. WWE feels fully invested in her and are ready to give her the keys to being the top dog on Smackdown. That being said, I do expect the match to be fun and think this could be Bianca’s best match to date.
The Winner and NEW Smackdown Women’s Champion: Bianca Belair
This is hard to write, I’ve gone from really not liking Sasha (sometimes it’s a struggle to like the character she plays) to being a fan. She can wrestle and is dedicated to it in her own way. She’s a snazzy dresser and good on the mic. Bianca is fun, I used to not like her braid but boy I’d be sad to see it gone now. She makes her own gear and always looks great, and she is beautiful. I adore how her husband looks at her, that says so much about her as a person. She’s a fantastic wrestler too, both women are. But I honestly think it’s Bianca’s time. She needs to win this and deserves it a great deal Although some would say it’s too soon, I think it’s time. Bianca for the win.
Winner & New SD Champ: Bianca
This is going to be the main event for night one and the pressure is going to be huge on both of them but I believe that they are going to deliver and so does WWE. They aren’t going to hold back and put everything out there and maybe even bust out new moves to keep the other one on their toes. I want to see Sasha bust out a crucifix bomb to counter the KOD with her transitioning it into a Bank Statement. Something else I want to see is Bianca picking up Sasha from the Bank Statement and hit the KOD. Like I said with the Asuka/Rhea match I don’t believe that this is the last match between the two as it can turn into a great feud for the Smackdown Women’s championship. I think that if Sasha wins or Bianca wins it would still be a great match.
Winner and new Smackdown Women’s Champion: Bianca Belair
This year’s Mania feels like the perfect opportunity for the WWE to elevate a non-horsewomen to the level of the horsewomen with Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair. With this being announced as the main event of Night 1 it just feels inevitable that Bianca stands tall to close out Saturday night as the new women’s Smackdown champion.
WINNER: THE EST
WWE Championship Match
Bobby Lashley (c) vs Drew McIntyre
I would love to see McIntyre get his WM moment in front of fans, but many think it’s too early for Lashley to drop the strap. The same people actually think McIntyre will get heat at WM this year. I truly hope not, because he’s worked so hard this past year and has been totally screwed over by the pandemic. Honestly, he’s handled it well, especially since too much of his career has been a comedy of errors. That being said, I loved how he mentioned his mother on Raw. I am feeling that hurt now, and not being able to be there with her (for me, his wrestling dreams for him) while she was dying of cancer is one of the worst feelings I’ve ever felt in my life. I was going to go with Lashley here because of all the writing on the wall until McIntyre brought up his Mum. Now I’m going with McIntyre to win and become WWE Champion again, even if for a short time.
Queen’s Predicted Winner & New WWE Champion – Drew McIntyre
This match has had quite the nice build and I am fully expecting a really solid match as well based on their previous encounters. Lashley has finally reached the level he was at during his tenure in TNA where he showed he could be a top guy and Drew is a great rival for him. I do expect this match to be a “big meaty men slapping meat” type of match and maybe they bust out a move or two that we have not seen them do in the past. I know some are calling for Drew to get his win in front of a crowd that he was robbed of last year due to COVID but I am not so sure on that. Lashley has put in the work and he deserves to be more than a transitional champion. I could see them dragging this feud on a bit and have the blowoff be in some sort of stipulation match. I think it is pretty obvious who my pick here will be.
The Winner and STILL WWE Champion: “The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley
Bobby may be champion and not bad in the ring. He’s actually getting a bit better on mic which I never thought would happen. Both are big strong men but Bobby has become overly reliant on the hurt lock and honestly, he needs to look at other moves or he’s going to become a one-move Goldberg. Drew does have a couple of moves he relies on as well but there are other moves that he uses ok both men use. Drew has all but run a gauntlet just to get the match he was owed and promised. Bobby was a surprise champion but he’s not going to stay champion. Drew will beat him down and overcome him just like he has overcome all the obstacles the hurt business put in his way. Drew will finally get his WrestleMania moment and win the belt in front of a crowd.
Winner & New Champion – Drew McIntyre
This match is going to be a hard-hitting match for night one as they are definitely not going to hold back. Drew wants to win in front of a live crowd to hear the pop that he didn’t get at last year’s WrestleMania. Lashley wants to win so he can say that he walked in and walked out of WrestleMania as Champion. I wonder what role would MVP play other than as a distraction for Lashley, or does he have something up his nicely dressed sleeves. I could see Drew winning the match but I’m not going to rule out Lashley retaining either.
Winner and still Champion: Bobby Lashley
I’m going to make a bold prediction here. The Hurt Business breaking up is just a ruse to lure Drew McIntyre into a false sense of security. It also allows Cedric & Shelton the loophole they need to interfere on behalf of Lashley “While not being a part of Hurt Business”.
WINNER: THE ALMIGHTY LASHLEY
Tag Team Match
Bad Bunny & Damian Priest vs Miz & John Morrison
Squee! I think this is the first time, ever, I’ve been excited about a mainstream star’s WM match, but Bad Bunny has been in the PC learning everything he can. He’s dedicated himself to learning to work the ring and doing it right. He’s a true wrestling fan who isn’t going to fluff this off the way most mainstream stars do. He’s small for a wrestler, but there are others smaller. At 5’8″ and 165lbs, he’s about the size Rey Mysterio was as WWE Heavyweight Champion, and he has Priest by his side. I’m pretty much betting Miz will carry the match for Morrison who appears to be cleared, but I’m not sure what shape he’s actually in. While I believe Miz deserves to be much higher on the card on a regular basis, he’s worked really well with BB and puts his all into everything he does, but he’s not going to get a WM win here. I normally would never put a mainstream star over a WWE superstar, but BB has put in the work, and I will be shocked if this is his last match in the WWE. His love of pro wrestling makes me think that he’s going to be juggling his music career with his budding wrestling career for many years. I hope that he does. It’s a nice addition that Priest will get a WM win as well.
Queen’s Predicted Winners – Bad Bunny & Damian Priest
This match has actually had some of my favorite build of all the matches for Wrestlemania. Bad Bunny has clearly put in the work and is truly living out his dream of being in WWE as a lifelong fan. The rumor was that this was supposed to be a tag match but was made into a one-on-one match because Priest and Morrison were dealing with injuries but there was hope they could still make it a tag match. The match would get made into a tag match and I think that is a good thing because it takes the pressure off Bad Bunny to perform in a singles match and he can let Priest do most of the heavy lifting. This match will not be about work rate but rather the story that will be told between the celebrity that doesn’t belong and the full-time pros. Celebrity angles usually play out a certain way at Wrestlemania so I think I know which way I am leaning for this one.
The Winners: Bad Bunny and Damian Priest
Yes! Finally a tag team match, they had me worried. I’m curious to see what Bad Bunny has learned and how well he tags with Damian Priest. I may not be fond of Bad Bunny’s man bun but I do look forward to seeing him in the ring and living his dream of wrestling for real. Honestly I’m so over The Miz and Morrison (Miz needs to drop Morrison like a hot potato). I am very much rooting for Bunny and Priest and I think they will win.
Winners – Bunny & Priest
I’m looking forward to seeing this match because of how Bad Bunny has been taking it seriously since he been in the company, unlike other celebrities with the exception of a few. I love how this match gives Priest a WrestleMania match and Miz & Morrison also. I want to see how Bad Bunny does in the ring against Morrison and Miz and how far his training gets him. I want to see Priest getting the hot tag from Bad Bunny and help him get the win.
Winners: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest
Prior to Bad Bunny being announced to appear in WWE I had heard of him but didn’t follow him much. Now that he’s here I have to applaud him for how committed he’s been to the company, he’s showing up every week and he’s training hard at the PC to give the best possible performance he possibly can and as a life long fan of wrestling, I truly appreciate that. I’d bet my house on the outcome of this one.
WINNERS: BAD BUNNY & DAMIAN PRIEST
Raw Tag Team Championship Match
New Day (c) vs AJ Styles & Omos
I’m really interested in seeing what Omos can do in the ring, as long as he’s safe. I always worry about the massive wrestlers in the ring, until I know how they work. Giant Gonzales and Great Khali both made me a bit nervous of the monster-sized wrestlers. I know Giant Gonzales debuting at WM makes me that much more touchy about Omos, but things have changed so much, so I have high hopes that he’s been well trained and ready to be in the ring. That being said, if I go with my gut, that means New Day will end up having more Tag Title runs than Flair and Cena combined, but it’s a different time, and they are a great team. Anyway, I think AJ and Omos are going to win this, freeing up Woods to become the next King of The Ring! It’s more than time to fulfill that major dream and goal of his.
Queen’s Predicted Winners & New Raw Tag Team Champions – AJ & Omos
Now this match has the potential to be really fun based on who is involved. We all know how great Woods and Kofi are and how AJ is a once-in-a-lifetime in-ring performer but the unknown is Omos. We have gotten little snippets of his ring work but we will now see what he is capable of. The pressure will be there for sure because this is the biggest show of the year and all eyes will be watching him to see if he is more than just a bodyguard. I do hope Omos surprises us in the ring and he is working with AJ so AJ can definitely do most of the work. I think the story is clear here as to who should win and I will go with it.
The Winners and NEW Raw Tag Team Champions: AJ Styles & Omos
Honestly, I’m tired of Omos standing on the sidelines, its time for him to actually enter the ring and do something other than being AJ’s muscle. I do hope he can wrestle, but I don’t hold any high hopes. I would love to see Omos turn on AJ due to AJ’s arrogance so that’s what I’m going to go with. Omos will turn on AJ and cause him the match and start one heck of a feud. The new day will win and retain.
Winners – New Day
This one interests me and is throwing me through a loop because I don’t know what Omos brings to the table as we haven’t seen him in the ring like the rest of the people in the match. I wonder if a live crowd would make Omos nervous in the ring so I want to see Omos start the match against Kofi to see him tie up for the first time. This match is throwing me through a loop as I said before the wild card is Omos. This is going to be a good match with an interesting offense and I could see Styles & OmoOmos winning the tag titles and making Styles a grand slam champion.
Winners and new Tag Team Champions: AJ Styles & Omos
Having AJ in the tag team title scene was an interesting choice but I gotta admit that I’m lowkey looking forward to seeing how Omos does in his 1st official match in the WWE. I’m confident that AJ, Xavier & Kofi will more than make up for any greenness/experience that Omos may show during their match. Given how Xavier & Kofi have gotten the upper hand on AJ more often than not during their build-up to Mania I think it’s safe to assume that AJ along with Omos get the last laugh.
WINNERS: AJ STYLES & OMOS
Steel Cage Match
Shane McMahon vs Braun Strowman
People have complained about this feud, and it has been bad, but not for the reasons most people are saying. For me it’s the bullying aspect that bothers me most. When I was a senior in high school there was a freshman that followed me around. I lived by the Golden Rule, until someone wronged me, then they were out of my life. He was very, very tall, awkward, and teased for it. Most people think the big guys don’t get teased, but he was a target being only fourteen and at least 6’5″. (I actually stopped writing this to look in my senior yearbook to see if I could find his name and look him up online, but it’s not where I left it, so I need to go hunting.) Anyway, he was a big guy who everyone thought was dumb because he was so big and so quiet, and didn’t play any sports. Watching this feud has brought me back to high school, which is never good. That’s why I’ve had a problem with this feud, not because it was boring. It also bothers me that this match was simply put together so Shane can fly through the air at WM again, as if we haven’t seen it too many times already, seeing him win at WM too many times. Braun needs to win this for all those kids who are/were bigger than everyone else and bullied for it.
Queen’s Predicted Winner – Braun Strowman
This is by far the lone match at Wrestlemania that has had any sort of build that I do not care about. The story being told has been horrible and the worst part is that I have been bored by it. Something can be bad but if it makes you laugh, it redeems it a bit. If something is bad and makes you bored then that really gives it no redeeming qualities. There could have been some potential for a story to been told here but the whole “Braun is stupid” thing just has fallen flat and has totally made me not care at all. I am sure we will see Shane fly off the top of the cage because he is always willing to put his body on the line. I hope the match will be better than the build.
The Winner: Braun Strowman
I want both to lose. Braun needs to ditch his “these hands” crap and Shane needs to stay behind the camera. Neither wins! If someone has to then let’s go with Shane, I’m so sick of hearing Braun tell everyone they need these hands.
Winner – Shane McMahon
Well, this is going to be an interesting matchup as Big Show is going for his first win at WrestleMania as he does have a losing streak. Cody Rhodes has been a good champion but his luck might run out against the 7-foot giant as he does want this win and his first Intercontinental Championship reign as he has never held that title. I’m rooting for Cody to win but I don’t see it happening with the hungry giant.
Winner and new Champion: Big Show
It’s hard to imagine that just a year ago Braun Strowman was pinning Goldberg clean in the middle of the ring for the WWE Championship. Talk about a fall from grace. Anyhow, if Braun takes a loss to Shane here especially with how much he’d been belittled throughout the build-up of this feud you might as well call the funeral home because that would be a burial and I don’t throw that word around often. Shane will get his crazy daredevil spot in but Braun gets the win.
THE LOSERS: The fans for having to suffer through this God awful feud!
Seth Rollins vs Cesaro
This is a toughie for me. I love Seth Rollins and I love Cesaro. The problems come in that Rollins’ character has been slightly off since his return. His suits have been on fire (if you didn’t see WWE Hall of Fame, you need to see the flames suit he wore) lately, but that’s not enough to carry a floundering character. Cesaro might not have the style Rollins does, but he’s been a more solid character through this feud. I’ve always said Cesaro is better than he’s been booked. Each time he’s reaching for the brass ring, it’s pulled out of his reach, and I worry that will be happening again. I think it’s time Cesaro gets a big WM win, and Rollins’ character changes in some way to make him more viable. Honestly, the only way I see Rollins winning this one is if someone unexpected comes out of the woodwork to help him. Of course I’d love to see Becky back, even by her husband’s side, but with the baby, I think it would be too dangerous for her to return just yet. While I do hope someone appears to cause problems in this match because that’s the type of thing Rollins would do at WM – we’ve seen it before – but I think Cesaro is going to swing Rollins out of his wits, even if it’s the last time it happens.
Queen’s Predicted Winner – Cesaro
This match could totally be a show stealer if they give it any semblance of time. Both men are some of the best workers in WWE right now and can totally tear the house down. I think it will be a crime if they are not given time because they can totally give us a great match. This is the biggest moment in Cesaro’s WWE career to date as he is given a one-on-one match at Wrestlemania against one of the top stars in WWE. I really hope this match can at least get somewhere between 15-20 minutes because this match deserves it based on the potential to be great. I have a feeling we will see Cesaro bust out some things he has been saving for a moment like this and maybe Seth dusts off some things as well. I could see either man winning here but will probably go with my heart here.
The Winner: Cesaro
I’m over Seth, I’ve enjoyed watching him in the past, now I love to watch him get beat, I am tired of the arrogance and I’m honestly not a fan of all the hair. I must admit I prefer bald men, and you put Cesaro in a pair of jeans and I drool. He’s a very good wrestler and does put on a good match. I look forward to him putting the swing on Seth again, I just wish some of that hair would fly off of Seth as he has too much and looks like a lounge lizard. Cesaro will win.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this match seeing as it is Cesaro’s first WrestleMania singles match and he is going against Rollins who has loads of WrestleMania experience in singles action. Now I’m wondering how many times can Cesaro swing around Rollins before even he gets dizzy but I hope that it is 37 times and an extra one for good luck. They are definitely going to give it their all in the ring and I’m going to love every minute of it.
Winner: The Swiss Superman Cesaro
This is the biggest match in Cesaro’s near decade long WWE career and a clean win over Seth on the biggest stage of them all puts Cesaro in a position where he can either prove to Vince McMahon he can be the main event guy that many fans think he is or ultimately prove Vince right that he doesn’t have what it takes to grab the brass ring. So while this weekend’s match is the most biggestes of Cesaro’s career what happens afterward, after he defeats Seth will prove to be the important time of Cesaro’s career and how he’s able to handle his biggest solo push afterward
WINNER: THE SWISS SWING
Tag Team Turmoil
Lana & Naomi vs Dana & Mandy vs Riott Squad vs Natalya & Tamina vs Carmella & Billie Kay
Running through the list, there are only two teams I could see advancing from this, and one of the teams hasn’t even been announced as of my writing this. Yes, I’m talking about Carmella and Billie Kay. Carmella looked very strong the last time we saw her in the ring, and she needs to be in the ring more. BK has turned into a shining light I never thought I’d do anything but loath. I’m still in awe that she’s the one who has emerged as the one to watch from the Iiconics! The other team that really should be at the top of the list is Lana and Naomi. They are strong, have more than proven themselves, and the team has gotten under Nia and Shayna’s skin more than anyone else.
Everyone knows I’m a fan of Dana and Mandy, but I think they need to ditch the T&A thing a bit to be taken more seriously, even though they always look amazing. Riott Squad has been booked so poorly, which is terribly upsetting to me, and so they have no chance, but they really need to be booked better! I don’t think there’s any question about Natalya and Tamina. They are strong women, but they’re just not right for this – unless they’re going to be given one short run before they retire. I’d have no issue with that, but not at WM. Then again, it’s Natalya and Tamina, who is to say there won’t be an injury. Lastly, the one rumored team that could pop up right at the end and put a wrench in all of our predictions. I think you all know I’m talking about Bayley and Charlotte. It’s strange that Bayley isn’t scheduled for the show, and the whole reason Charlotte wasn’t booked was totally bogus. I’m going to run with Naomi and Lana for the win here, but I’m willing to take the loss if Bayley and Charlotte jump in at the last minute, as they would easily be the strongest team on the roster.
Queen’s Predicted Winners – Lana & Naomi
This seems so random and thrown together for the women’s tag division and that could really sum up most of its history. The talent is there but the booking of it has not been. The only two teams that make a lick of sense to win this are Lana/Naomi and Natalya/Tamina. I hope the match is good but it is hard to be interested in something that has not been given a reason to care about. It is a shame that I say that because there are some talented women here but they haven’t been given much to do on the biggest stage other than a random turmoil match to determine who faces the champions on night two. I guess I will go with the team that makes the most sense from a story perspective.
The Winners: Lana & Naomi
I have no idea who to pick. I cannot see Natalya and Tamina winning because Natalya has been a jobber for the last couple of years. The powers that be have not been using the Riott Squad in a manner that they should be used so I can’t see them winning, but they should be the winners. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose could win but I don’t’ see it and honestly don’t want the beige twins to win. That leaves Lana and Naomi in the match. Naomi is fantastic and Lana is improving with every match. She’s no longer a complete joke. HOLD THE PHONE, I just heard that Carmella and Billie K are also in the match. If this is the case I am going with these two. Mella is ok to watch, Billie K is a shocker as she has become more than interesting to watch. I used to hate this woman and now she’s really fun to watch. I’m going to pick them just so I can see Billie parade around in that funky steampunky skirt. Billie K and Mella for the win.
Winners – Billie Kay & Carmella
This match has had a gradual buildup for a while now but I’m still not interested in Natalya in the ring. Naomi should be in the Raw women’s title picture as a threat not in the tag picture. Mandy should have had a decent build by now but she has been forgotten sometimes even tho she has improved in the ring. The Riott squad should have been at least one-time tag team champions by now. Out of all of the teams, I believe that the Riott Squad deserves to win the match.
Winners: Riott Squad
I feel bad for Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan, they’ve been off TV for weeks and are just randomly thrown into this match with ZERO momentum just to lose when they should of been tag champs months ago in my humble opinion. Tamina & Natalya have surprisingly meshed really well together but because they’re heels I don’t see them winning here, they’ll chase for awhile. Mandy and Dana just feel like they’re kind of there. Lana & Naomi have the most momentum of the 4 teams and given Naomi’s 2 clean wins over Shayna over the last several weeks and Lana’s ongoing feud with Nia then winning here makes the most sense.
WINNER: NAOMI & LANA
Night one of WrestleMania 37 is packed, and I’m sure there will be more fun added to the show that’s not already on the card. Possibly during the Kick Off, or squeezed in somewhere unexpected. Please join us for the WM 37 Dignified Discussion and enjoy the show with the Wrestle Royalty Community.
