Sunday, April 11, WWE presents the second night of WrestleMania 37 from Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida. WWE scheduled WM week to be tighter than we’ve ever seen it, which has made it tougher to get our predictions to you, so please bear with any last-minute changes to the matches that are not reflected in what we’ve written and shared with you. We hope you enjoy our predictions, take our polls, and share your own thoughts below.
Universal Championship Match
Roman Reigns (c) vs Daniel Bryan vs Edge
I was not thrilled that Edge picked Reigns because I worry about Reigns in the ring with Edge, but I worry about Edge in the ring with almost everyone right now. But then there’s Bryan who I really do trust with Edge because he’s also running on borrowed time in the ring. With the addition of Bryan, I’m actually excited about this match. I know I talk about it a lot, and I upset some people when I do, but I can’t stand cancel culture, and WMXX was my favorite. This match brings me back to Benoit winning the Rumble and going after Triple H so he could get off SD and away from the tyrant GM, Paul Heyman, who was doing everything in his power to make Benoit (and Eddie) miserable. HBK, who had been feuding with Trip, wasn’t ready to let go and hit sweet chin music on Benoit and signed the contract himself. Raw GM at the time, Eric Bischoff, made it a Triple Threat Match at WMXX. Favorite WM and a fantastic match. I’m expecting this match to be as great as that one, seventeen years later.
All that being said, and as much as I ADORE Bry, this really needs to be Edge’s moment. So while I was worried about Edge facing Reigns, it really is right that Edge fight for the Uni gold that wasn’t around when he was wrestling previously. I don’t think there’s any question that Edge should win this. It’s the cherry on top of one of the best careers I’ve had the pleasure to follow and write about. On Saturday I’ll be rocking my New Day hoodie, and I wasn’t sure which to wear on Sunday, Edge or Bry. I couldn’t find Edge, but I know where Bry is, until last night when Stacy found my Edge hoodie. I’ll be rocking that Sunday night.
Queen’s Predicted Winner & New Universal Champion – Edge!
Boy has this match gone through some changes. I will say that I am still unsure if whether I like Bryan’s inclusion but it has added a bit to the story. It doesn’t feel as nice as it did when he faced Batista and Orton and really feels like he is putting his nose in someone else’s business. The match will be the main event on night two and I am interested to see how it will be booked. I am sure we will see Jey Uso get involved at some point and I expect him to be taken out in glorious fashion. I think this match really comes down to Edge and Roman and it feels like a coinflip. The story is there for Edge’s comeback to win the title on the anniversary of his retirement, so it makes sense for him to win. The story is also there for Roman to continue his dominance as the “Tribal Chief” and “Head of the Table” and that should mean he retains. Bryan feels like he is there to take the pin and I think I know who it will be.
The Winner and NEW Universal Champion: Edge
I hate the storyline that Roman Reigns has going on! If he’s the head of the table, I’ll eat elsewhere. That said he’s a very good wrestler and he has a lot of good points about him, I just hate the storyline. Daniel Bryan, I love to watch, I loved his wrestling even when he was a heel (which always felt wrong to me and not like who he really is). Edge I’ve seen the least of but dang he can hold his own even though he’s getting up there in years. This match is really going to be interesting, I’m curious how the back and forth is going to be between these 3 men. Edge has got to be beyond pissed that Bryan is in this match as he was the one to win the right to fight the champion of his choice. Bryan wants one last hurrah before retiring and settling down in his post wrestling life. Roman is almost a non-issue in this match. I see Bryan winning thus pissing off Edge even more and starting a feud that will make the Orty/Edge one look like child’s play. I am all but salivating at the thought of this. Bryan to win the belt!
Winner & New Universal Champ: Bryan
I was digging the original matchup with Roman defending the title against Edge but Bryan being added makes it a little bit more interesting because now Edge and Roman have to deal with Bryan when they probably had a game plan for just a one on one match. Bryan has had a game plan for both of them from when he was lobbying to be in the match so he is great with it being a triple threat match but with it being a triple threat match Jey Uso is definitely going to help Roman out. I see Jimmy Uso coming back just back when Jey is taken out by Bryan or Edge helping out the Tribal Chief and completing the Bloodline. Now Bryan has walked away from a triple threat match winning a championship at WrestleMania before and he can do it again. Edge has been in triple threat matches in the past and has mixed results in the past. Roman has been in the main event at WrestleMania with him being more on the winning end most of the time.
Winner and new Universal Champion: Edge
Only in the world of pro wrestling can a guy return from what was seemingly a career-ending neck injury and win the Royal Rumble starting from the #1 position and literally outlasting 29 other wrestlers to win it and still somehow be positioned as the bad guy, aww that’s the power of the YES MOVEMENT lol. Truthfully I can’t call it. A case can be made for all 3 walking out as champ but my gut is telling me that the little engine that could and will prevail.
WINNER: DANIEL BRYAN
Raw Championship Match
Asuka (c) vs Rhea Ripley
I feel like a broken record as I picked Bianca to defeat Sasha, and I’m wanting to go with Rhea over Asuka. This is going to be a fantastic match, right up there with Sasha and Bianca, but totally different. I’m excited to see what these two can do in the ring together because I’m sure it’s going to be fantastic. The more I type this the more I think that there’s going to be something strange in this one. I don’t think it’s going to be as clean-cut as the SD Championship Match. As much as I love Rhea, I worry that her showing up and demanding Asuka at WM will not work out well for her. I have to wonder if maybe Charlotte is going to show up and screw Rhea for some reason. Or, maybe someone from NXT appears unexpectedly. My whole idea has changed as I typed this. I’m seeing this one going sideways somehow. I think this is going to be the match I pick a screwy ending.
Queen’s Predicted Winner – Something Screwy
The build for this match has been short but I have enjoyed it. Rhea came right in and went for the champion like she should have. Rhea should not be messing around with the middle and she is someone that should be challenging Asuka for the title. This match is for sure to be one I am looking forward to and one I fully expect to deliver. Both women are great in the ring so the formula is there for this to be a great one. I will say though that it does feel like Rhea should take the strap from Asuka here so she doesn’t lose her first two Wrestlemania matches this early in her career. I do think that we will see Rhea and Bianca win the titles to a spoiler on my SD predicts and it will harken back to when John Cena and Batista were crowned on the same Mania card.
The Winner and NEW Raw Women’s Champion: Rhea Ripley
I so adore both of these women. Asuka has been a fantastic champion when they let her be one. Rhea on the other hand has been super fabulous to watch in NXT. It took balls (and yes like most women she has two sets!) to challenge the champ on your first night on Raw, and yes Rhea does indeed have balls. She’s tough, strong, and beautiful and she wrestles pretty good to boot. Asuka is strong, tough and I love her look as well. This will be fun to watch and I hope the powers that be let them really have a battle. Despite all this I see Asuka winning as it’s too soon for Rhea to become champion. Asuka to win.
Winner – Asuka
This match has had little build to it but I expect them to have a great match. Rhea has had experience against various opponents as does Asuka. It is going to be an interesting back and forth between the two as Rhea doesn’t know the full extent of what Asuka can do and vice versa. I don’t see this match being a one-off match between the two but one in a series of matches that is going to end at Extreme Rules. I see Asuka snapping at one point in the match and bring out a little bit of her dark side out.
Winner by DQ and still Champion: Asuka
So a bit of interesting news dropped yesterday saying that Becky Lynch will be returning to RAW very soon. If that’s the case then turning Rhea heel makes all the sense in the world. Unfortunately, Asuka (0-3 at WrestleMania) now becomes a casualty of a potential Becky/Rhea program and will wake up Post-Mania morning still without a Mania win under her belt.
WINNER: RHEA RIPLEY
Randy Orton vs The Fiend w/ Alexa Bliss
I’ve read rumors that this will be a squash match. Now, I agree that Wyatt needs to win here to make up for all of his other WM losses, especially his loss to Orton, but I don’t want a squash. I think it would do both of them a disservice if this was booked short and squashy. I hope they make it interesting, even though it’s not scheduled to be a cinematic match because there are actually going to be fans attending. I’ve heard that this won’t be the end of things, and they will have a cinematic match soon, but at WM. I just hoped they’re booked to give them both a solid WM showing with The Fiend winning it, with or without help from Bliss – though I know she will be right there for every minute of it.
Queen’s Predicted Winner – The Fiend
This is a match that feels fairly predictable to predict but that doesn’t mean it will be bad. The Fiend has come back and is looking to make Orton pay for burning him alive. I have loved this feud and I am not one of those that is tired of it. I hate how the IWC will complain about WWE not doing long-term stories but will complain once they get them that are good like this. Daniel Bryan really was right to call the fans “fickle!” because they truly can be. I think Alexa Bliss may play a role here and maybe might even eat an RKO from Randy during the match which will cause the Fiend to snap. I am interested to see how this match plays out and I hope the right person goes over here.
The Winner: The Fiend
This has been an interesting feud, I love how they are using Alexa. She has been the real star of this story. The fiend is interesting, Orty is Orty and a total meadow muffin as a person. I will enjoy watching how Alexa becomes involved in this match as she is really the highlight of it. Both men can wrestle, but so can Alexa and I would love to see more from her. It’s going to be quite a show as the Fiend is very much a showman. Orty is finally putting in the work and not just showing up and doing little. I see the Fiend coming out the winner (well really Alexa as she is the best part of this.)
Winner: The Fiend
This is going to be the weird and crazy match for both nights of WrestleMania as who knows how it is going to play out and if we are going to get a winner at the end of the match. The mind games that Alexa Bliss and The Fiend have been playing on Randy have been mind-boggling but delicious at the same time. Randy is looking to get rid of The Fiend but I don’t think it would happen at WrestleMania. I don’t see an actual winner in the match but a survivor instead.
I’m glad this match is finally happening so this feud can finally be over. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy, have enjoyed, both guys’ work over the last 12 months but this entire program is more played out than a SAW sequel. The legend killer gets squashed here in an attempt by WWE creative to rewrite the wrongs of WrestleMania 33.
WINNER: THE FIEND
WWE Intercontinental Championship Nigerian Drum Fight
Big E (c) vs Apollo Crews
As strong as Apollo has become over recent months, he’s just not there yet for me. There’s something that’s just not clicking together perfectly for him yet. Big E, on the other hand, is poised on the edge, and will hopefully be facing that Edge at SummerSlam. Because he’s poised for that next level, losing to Apollo here would be a travesty. The only way Apollo will be able to win this is if he has someone unexpected on his side. Now, we never know who could come up from NXT or when, but when better than WM? I just have a feeling Apollo will have someone try to get involved and help him in some way, but it won’t help. I don’t think this feud ends at WM either.
Queen’s Predicted Winner & Still IC Champion – Big E
This feud has been really great and it has helped to legitimize both men. Apollo has come alive as a heel and I am loving seeing Big E bring his more serious side to things. This will be a Nigerian Drum Fight and I wonder what that exactly means. I hope it isn’t too gimmicky and it is something in the realm of possibilities even in the world of wrestling. I will also say that I do not think this will be the end of their feud and I fully expect this to continue after Mania. This match is a bit hard to choose because the case can really be made for either man and that is what makes it interesting. I got to go with my gut here and what I think makes the most sense.
The Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Apollo Crews
I have to say whenever Apollo Crews is on the mic the mute button goes on. That fake accent is too much. If he talked normally or less fake, I would listen. But honestly, I don’t care. He’s a very good wrestler who has a storyline that’s not progressing his career in a positive way. Yes, he’s turned heel, but even if he wasn’t a heel, I would still hate that accent. It’s no secret I really enjoy Big E. He’s a big guy who can move and is fun. His sense of humor really comes out to such a degree that I wouldn’t care if he didn’t wrestle well, fortunately for us he can and does. I love that he is a champion in his own right on his own. While I miss him as part of New Day, I do love that he’s getting a chance to be on his own. He’s going in the champ and he’s leaving the champ. Apollo Crews and his fake accent are going to be left in the dust.
Winner: Big E
The way this feud came together has been delicious as we get to see Crews display his character that was there already but didn’t get to shine. We get to see the serious side of Big E without him losing his comedic side that we have come to love. This is going to be two big meaty men slapping meat so don’t expect any high-flying moves in their match. I expect to see steel chairs and the steel steps to be used in the match. I’m going to say that this match is the dark horse for match of the night of night two. I wouldn’t be mad if either won the match as Apollo can make for a great IC champion and Big E is already a great IC champion.
Winner and new Champion: Apollo Crews
I’m loving the complete 180 Apollo’s character has taken in recent months not to mention the aggression level we’ve seen. Big E has also undergone somewhat of a personality change since this feud started displaying a more serious side that we’ve yet to see in his career thus far. I hate to see either guy lose here but I feel like Apollo needs the win more to firmly establish him as an upper midcard heel, even if he drops the title back to Big E in the near future.
WINNER: Uhaa Nation
Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn w/ Logan Paul
The never-ending insanity that is Sami Zayn. He’s really handled this character better than I thought possible, but I think it’s about run its route. I really feel bad for KO who keeps getting dragged back into feuds with his bestie. Yes, they have great chemistry, but I think Big E vs KO would have made much more sense for WM. KO has been overlooked for way too long, so he needs to win this one, pulls Sami out of his insanity, leaves Logan Paul twitching on the mat, and never look back from this tragic mess.
Queen’s Predicted Winner – KO
You must think these two are giddy over the fact that they get to wrestle each other on the biggest stage of the year. They have had so many encounters and this one must feel like the biggest considering the setting. It will be interesting to see what they do with this match since Logan Paul will be involved. This could be a nice little nugget of a match if they allow it to be and I do hope they do. The build has been simple and I didn’t think we would say either man in the role they are currently in for this match. I really have no idea who to choose here because this is a match that really can go either way. I think I will go with my gut here as to what will make for a better story.
The Winner: Kevin Owens
I have no idea who Logan Paul is nor why he’s even here. Do I care? Nope, he’s a distraction and part of who Sami Zayn is at the moment. This is a match that we have seen at least a dozen times and even the same people are in it. Kevin can endure more damage than Sami is capable of dishing out. Both are good but well Sami is going to lose no matter what that Logan Paul dude thinks he can do. Kevin will prevail and hopefully move on to another opponent. Please move on to someone else (not to Shame McMahon or Roman Reigns either).
Winner: Kevin Owens
It was only a matter of time before they would have fought each other again but it has been a long time since they have last fought each other one on one. They have been fighting for titles and both have failed to win titles in the last two times. This match is a dark horse match for match of the night as they know each other like brothers and know each other’s moveset like the back of their hands. I don’t mind it if they feud for a little while because both the IC and Universal titles are going to be occupied for a while.
Winner by DQ: Kevin Owens
While KO/Sami are sure to have a really good match on paper this just doesn’t feel like a Mania worthy match because this match has been done to death dating back to their NXT days and since creative didn’t have any fresh matchups for these guys they decided to toss them together last minute and throw in a celebrity to spice things up a bit. I’m picking KO here simply because he needs a big win coming off of his feud where he took 3 straight losses to Roman Reigns. And besides, I can’t get enough of Sami complaining and tossing out his random conspiracy theories.
WINNER: KEVIN OWENS
United States Championship Match
Riddle (c) vs Sheamus
I know there are a lot of jokes about Riddle, but I’ve really come to like him. He’s more than proven himself in the ring, and his backstage segements, especially when he forgets his lines and rolls away, are so worth it. They are a step up in time from some of RVD’s stoner segments. I hope they have a moment together backstage very soon, because they could be stoner comedy gold together. The problem is that I also love Sheamus and I want to see him back in the main event scene. I would love to see Sheamus stepping up and fighting for the WWE Championship again by SummerSlam. His career looked to be over not long ago, so I think they need to step things up and give him one last run before he can’t any longer. I guess, because of Sheamus’ possible career timeline, I need to go with Sheamus winning this one clean.
Queen’s Predicted Winner & New US Champion – Sheamus
Another match with not that much build but this is one that could very well be a sleeper hit. Sheamus has been putting on some of the best matches of his career and Riddle is a tremendous worker in the ring. I expect to see some stiffness in this match and for these two to beat the living heck out of each other. I will say though that predicting this leaves me in a bit of a conundrum. On one hand, I love Riddle and would love for him to win his first Mania match. On the other hand, I would love for Sheamus to get another title reign because he more than deserves this. I think this is a bit of a coinflip but I will go with my gut here.
The Winner and STILL US Champion: Riddle
Riddle is a very good wrestler (there Queen I said it) however I hate his character. I will never pick him for a win. Sheamus is fun to watch and is also a good wrestler. Sheamus will win, he will not only win but he will clean the ring with Riddle. Sheamus to win and the new champ.
Winner & New US Champ – Sheamus
Ok Riddle has gotten under Sheamus translucent skin at every turn and now he is going to get his hands on him for the title. Riddle sometimes doesn’t even do it on purpose because he is being him. I’m going to love this match simply because of the many ways Riddle can and will throw Sheamus off of his game. It doesn’t matter to me who wins the match because we are in for a great match.
Winner and still Champion: Riddle Bro
This match has the impossible task of topping that epic Matt Riddle/Asuka segment from last week’s RAW where Riddle went blank and completely forgot all his lines. Lol but seriously though, go back and watch that segment it’s hilarious. But onto the match itself, my gut is telling me that Sheamus gets rewarded with the win and US title for all the great work he’s put in this work.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs TBD
I really want to see the happy ending here, with Lana and Naomi winning the Tag Team Championship on the grandest stage of them all, but I have to wonder and worry about Reginald, and that nagging question about Bayley and Charlotte. It’s hard to predict something with only a small portion of the actual facts, but that’s exactly what we are doing with this match. I think the smartest route is to follow my heart and where the storyline says it really should go, with Lana and Naomi defeating Nia and Shayna clean.
Queen’s Predicted Winners & New WWE Tag Team Champions – Lana & Naomi
Like with the turmoil match, I am not really that interested in this. I am sure the match could be good but the booking has not brought me in. I think Shayna is much better and does not need to be saddled with being Nia’s tag partner. I will say that this is the perfect opportunity to break them up and have my pick, Lana and Naomi, win the titles because they are the team, I am much more interested in. Lana should get rewarded for the work she has put in to improve in the ring and this is the perfect place for it. I fully expect the title to change hands here and I want Shayna to snap and beat down Nia and Reginald when they try to blame her for the loss because she eats the pin. That is my dream scenario and I truly hope it happens.
The Winners and NEW Women’s Tag Team Champions: Lana & Naomi
I picked Billie K and Mella to win the tag team turmoil match. Yes this is a shock to me as I never liked Billie K before and Mella, well in my humble opinion is beige, even when she dresses all in red. They will be fun to watch however they don’t have a chance against Shayna and yes Nia. Shayna is tough, strong, and really interesting to watch. Nia is big and it’s hard to get her down, but if they do it’s tough to get her back on her feet (go to the gym girlfriend, you will be happier and breathe better). Nia and Shayna will retain, and hopefully, they will revamp the women’s tag team soon so that they have more competition.
Winners & Still Champions – Nia & Shayna
I’m going out on a limb and say that I like Nia & Shayna as a tag team especially now with Reginald. The back and forth between Nia & Shayna has been funny but add Reginald and it got funnier. I think that Nia & Shayna are going to be overlooking the Riott Squad but that would be their own undoing because I don’t see them keeping the titles. After the match I see Shayna blaming both Nia and Reginald for the loss and Shayna taking out Reginald making Nia angry.
Winners and new Tag Team Champions: Riott Squad
Assuming Naomi & Lana win on Night 1 I’m also going to assume that capture the women’s tag titles on Night 2. Lana has done really good work as an underdog babyface in recent months and I think WWE will finally reward her for her efforts by giving her a title and letting her and Naomi run with the belts for a bit.
WINNERS: NAOMI & LANA
Night two of WrestleMania 37 is packed, and I’m sure there will be more fun added to the show that’s not already on the card. Possibly during the Kick Off, or squeezed in somewhere unexpected. Please join us for the WM 37 Dignified Discussion and enjoy the show with the Wrestle Royalty Community.
